If the arm spins easily by hand, but won't spin when operating, that points to poor water delivery... 1) check the strainer. Not just the holey one you can see, but there might well be a very fine mesh filter under it ~ if so, remove it to clean it (it can appear clean, but still be clogged with transparent cellulose fibres). Try running the machine empty without the strainer/filter fitted. You should hear a difference if the filter was causing the problem. 2) you might have a weak impeller. After a while the plastic impeller on some machines just wears away, leaving insufficient fins to move the water, this can be accelerated by e.g. broken glass stuck in the pump. Impellers can also slip on the motor shaft; the motor's spinning but the impeller doesn't. This means removing the machine, turning it over and removing the pump for inspection...

My ASKO D1986s pump is

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

To answer your question..."How do I make it stop?" well, good news...It is likely nothing very serious, but the "resolve" requires some investigation on your part.

F2 (or all flashing lights) means the control has indicated a overfill.
This is meaning the overfill switch is indicating an overfill has been detected. Whether the unit has actually overfilled or not remains to be seen.

**before proceeding turn the dishwasher power off via the home breaker panel, or unplug it from the wall if that is possible...most are hard wired to the home electrical...safety first**

The first thing to do is remove the toe panel/kick plate and inspect the base for water. If water is present, with the aid of a sponge, towels, or a wet-dry shop vacuum, absorb the water from the base...it should be known that if you leave the unit for a few days, the water in the base will evaporate hence appearing as everything is fine again...if a problem/leak does exist it will return.

If the unit works fine after resetting the power/breaker and soaking up any water present, it can likely be chalked up to a drain back-up or obstruction in the drain hose or pump...
(it could mean a faulty drain pump so you'll need to pay close attention the next few times you run it)

...If not, there are a couple of other possibilities that I'd focus on.

**Again insure power to the unit is off**

The first is the float and subsequently, float switch. If you've removed the service panel at the bottom, or toe plate, you need to locate the float and it's switch. It will be located directly behind where your main electrical junction is...

i.e.

macmarkus_4.jpg

Once you've located the float behind the main connection plate, you should see something like this image below,

i.e.

macmarkus_6.jpg

With the aid of a long screwdriver or if you can reach it, move the float up and down and listen closely for the switch to "click", indicating it is indeed functioning.

Restore power again, and see if this resolves the issue, if not try this next...

The pressure switch too can cause the drain/outlet pump to run constantly ( and usually all the lights to flash or "F2"...depending on the era and model of the Asko...ones with displays show F2 and lights flash ).

As I was saying the pressure switch is the component which controls the normal fill level and the overfill detection...pre float activation. The float is primarily the last ditch safety to prevent disaster in the event of a overflow, back-flow, or leak underneath the unit to service or call for service to the unit.

It too is located under the machine and is mounted to the sump well assembly as shown, the large arrow indicates the switch while the small is the hose.

i.e.

macmarkus_7.jpg

The issue is possibly just the hose going to the switch is clogged with debris such as dirt, detergent buildup etc and will be remedied by blowing it out.

The best way to do this is to remove this hose at the switch in the location indicated above, be very careful as to not break the hose off with the part of the switch inside, they can be delicate.

I typically work it loose with a tiny screw driver gently working it away from the switch. Once removed, pour a small amount of hot water, white vinegar or "CLR" through the sump from within the tub...or you can try blowing it through with "lung power".

The other end of the hose is located at the back of the sump well and is quite vulnerable to blockages over time due to detergents, dirt, and such.

This is the location...do not break this or you will need to replace the entire sump well...no fun.

Large arrow is pointing back to pressure switch, small indicates connection to sump well, sorry for the poor quality...it's hard to get in there with a camera phone, ha ha !

i.e.

macmarkus_8.jpg

That's almost the extent of the possible causes of this error. Of course it could be the pump as I alluded to, a pressure switch has failed, the float switch has failed, but not likely.

Hope this helps move you forward, or even better resolves the issue altogether. Let me know of course, I will help you move further if necessary.

Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa,

You're right, that typically is the most challenging part...to replace the on/off switch. **Make sure the power is off before you proceed...safety first**

It's a matter of pulling off the button from the switch and then bending the tabs pointed to in the image and pulling it out the bottom, putting the new one in just requires pushing it back through the hole.

macmarkus_292.jpg

I think that should cover what's involved. I don't think I've forgotten anything. Though much of this comes automatically as I'm doing it so if you think anything is not clear let me know and I'll do what I can to clarify or help in whatever manner I can.

Good luck with this, It really isn't too bad as you'll find out I'm sure. Let me know either way though please.

I have an Asko 1805

Hello Rick, Welcome to FixYa. The "very instructive, but poor resolution" info you've referred to in your post was indeed a previous solution of mine for another FixYa client, hopefully I can be of some help to you as well. I can send you the "pdf" of the parts list's I have and likely provide some assistance on the correct procedure to remove the panel. The only immediate problem I can foresee is because of my geographic location I am just heading to bed. If you can hold tight until approx. 8-9 am tomorrow morning ( it is presently 12;35 am mtn here ) I would be glad to try and help move you forward. In order to receive the listing and any Asko 1805 info I have you'd need to provide an email address I can attach it to in the form of a "pdf" as I alluded to. If you can wait until morning do not reply to this post right away...unless it can be in the next 5-10 minutes. If you do it will start a countdown for me to reply, ( which I believe is three hours and I will be sleeping...I hope ) and if I don't reply in that timetable the post will be returned to the "open to other experts" que and therefore I will not be able to have access to your post. I can contact you again in the am to notify you I'm available to help...if you can wait. If not perhaps another expert can help you and by all means it is your call.

ASKO 1555 dishwasher won't run.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description " The anti flood device motor won\'t stop running but we\'ve removed all the water " It is likely nothing very serious.

The flashing lights are directly related with overfill scenarios for Asko dishwashers of this era...DW95.5, meaning the control is indicating an overfill has been detected. Whether the unit has actually overfilled or not remains to be seen.

In the event it has, the outlet/drain pump motor is automatically turned on via either the pressure switch or a float in the base if sensing an overfill and removing water from inside the dishwasher will do nothing to resolve this error, but you can...

**before proceeding turn the dishwasher power off via the home breaker panel, or unplug it from the wall if that is possible...most are hard wired to the home electrical...safety first**

That's almost the extent of the possible causes of this error. Of course it could be the pressure switch has failed, the float switch has failed or ultimately the control has failed, but not likely.

This attachment below is also a retrofit tip from Asko regarding changes made to the pressure switch on the early DW95 series machines. you can identify if yours is this type by looking for the small white suppressor in the pressure switch...if yours doesn't have it you may want to change it while your at this repair.

Available at "repairclinic.com" for about $45USD.

Hi,
Did you remove the screws from the counter top??? Usually they are held in by a couple of screws through tabs at the top of the dishwasher...open the door and then look up...

other then that I would have no idea what is holding you fast, unless the water supply in coming up through a hole directly into the solenoid valve and holding you...

The start switch (right side) not power switch

Hello again,

I'm glad I was able to help you earlier with the overlay, unfortunately I'm not sure I can go 2 for 2 because the start switch issue is going to be a little more involved.

The issue is the start switch is actually integrated into the main control assembly,

example...

9c255a5.jpg

...hence you may need to replace the entire assembly and...this is the unfortunate part...it is no longer available at most part vendors since Asko no longer manufactures it.

If need be I'd recommend calling Asko USA at 1-800-898-1879 and see if perhaps they can direct you on a location, or you can look at "repairclinic.com" under # 1472725.

I say may because the control itself has possibly fallen away from the white upper plastic case which houses it, ( refer to the image ) thus the switch is not actually being pushed.

Either way will require you to open up the console to inspect it or replace the control if that isn't the issue and the start button simply no longer responds to the command when pushed.

In any event I attached the pdf pages of the parts illustration I have on pc, they may in fact be too small once sent though.

The part number by Asko originally is # 80 706 99-04.

Gurgles with no water coming

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

When the door is opened do the lights all flash, or are the flashing regardless if door is open or closed ?

Based on your description I`d suspect the unit has sensed an overfill problem...the flashing "LED`s" is how the Asko indicate this scenario.

The gurgling is simply due to the drain pump being on continuously.Though you say the machine is empty, the overfill basin may be full of water.

**Turn off the power to the unit via the house breaker before attempting any repairs or service**

If you remove the toe panel/kick plate below the door, check to see if the basin is full of water or has any sign of water being present. If left several days it will typically evaporate and appear to be normal again...until it overfills again.

There are other factors which could cause this of course, including a faulty pressure switch, but we can go down that path once you inspect the overfill basin for water.

Good luck.
