Halo Clean the indoor unit filters and wash the outdoor unit condenser with a hose and see if that works. Then after that has been done, set the AC unit on cooling at its minimum temp and then go to the outside unit and after a couple of minutes you'll see the thick pipe ice up. When you see that wait 20 more seconds then tip you finger on your tongue and press it against the pipe +-5 cm away from the valve its suppose to stick. Air conditioners don't need any water. Without more details, you should try cleaning the coils and the filter. It may also need freon.

Do you have anything else on the same circuit? I have heard about many of these units, not just Fedders, that will not run on a circuit that has another appliance or something that is pulling a lot of amperage. Also, check and make sure the receptacle is not worn and the plug is loose fitting. Other wise, you definitely could have a weak internal connection in the cord. Hope this helps.

The unit is probably low on freon and so it is running too cold....this trips the freeze stat and shuts down the compressor till it warms up
The unit will need to be recharged or replaced...

sounds like fan motor has gone bad or the capacitor to fan motor is bad...open up unit ,see if motor is frozen..does it turn freely..if so ,replace capacitor,or fan motor is bad...

I have a fedders a6x05f2b and the compresser comes on but the fan does not. What can I do?

Thanks for using FixYa. The cause of not cooling can be Drain, Sensor or Electric Control might have gone bad. First of all you’ll need to check that the condensation drain is not clogged and is working fine. Also check that the thermostat sensor behind the control panel has not gone bad. The sensor should not be touching the coil but instead it should be near to it. Please check and adjust it. The thermostat sensor measures the temperature of incoming air into the evaporative coil. Due to malfunction of the sensor the AC will not cool normally. As the ACs are turned on and off frequently the fan controls and compressor may also go bad. Please also check that there is no corroded wire. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

I am unawhere on any fuse on a window unit.Trying your breaker in the inside electric box..It may be tripped because you over loaded the ac unit.

Possible compressor problem.

Try spinning fan by hand. If it spins freely, change capacitor. If fan is tight, change fan motor.
