Asko t701 dryer won't start

If yourdryer is not starting then it is your motor. To determine this there is a trick you can try. First, put a piece a tape over the safetyswitch on the dryer. Take one hand andspin your drum of your dryer as your press the start button. If it takes off, then there is a bad spot onthe motor. Another thing is to try checkto see if you are getting 220 Volts to you outlet by taking a volt meter set at250 volts. Take the red leg of the voltmeter to the one side and the black leg to the other side. If the volt reader reads 220 then you aregetting the proper voltage. Finally, ifyou are getting 220 volts then it is your dryer heating elements. On a 220 volt for the dryer one leg is forthe motor and leg is for the element.

My dryer sounds really loud and it takes about 3

It sounds like your squirrel cage, (this is the fan blade that moves the warm air) that attaches to the motor has broken. If thats not the case then pull out the dryer from the wall and make sure the exaust port is clean of any lint or debris. It is very dangerous to let lint build up in a dryer as this can cause a fire. I do not recommend using your dryer until you get it serviced and repaired.

I have now taken the back of the dryer off and

Are you getting good air flow? If so, your instincts that it's a failed heater element are likely correct.

Asko T701 dryer not heating up during drying

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I hope to clarify the thermostat's you refer to. Attached below is the location of the cycling thermostat`s ( I suspect these are the ones you checked ? correct me if I'm wrong ) but there is one many people miss and are unaware of also shown below, that is the hi-limit safety.
The location of the reset-able safety thermostat in the second image, It is on the back wall under the black rubber cap I`m pointing at in the 2nd photo.

Hi-limit reset-able thermostat.

There is a possibility the heating element is at fault of course, but I'd like to clarify you've ruled out the hi-limit before proceeding to the heater check/repair.
Thanks for choosing FixYa. Please take a moment to leave a testimony and rate the info I provided.

Good luck.

T701 dryer makes a tumping

Hi Gary,

Since you are able to turn the drum with the belt, I am assuming that you have removed the cabinet of the dryer.

Look for worn bearings and support wheels for the drum. Also have a look at the idler / tension wheel as well.

The drum should not be moving around as it is sitting on the rollers. The belt should maintain enough tension to keep it from doing so. If it is able to be moved, there may not be adequate tension from the idler wheel.

My dryer's power cord has

Un screw the 2 hex screws from the back of the dryer where the cord goes in.

There will be 3 screws that connect the cord to the dryer, loosen or remove them to remove the 4 prong cord.

A hardware store will carry the 3 prong cord you need, tell them it is for a dryer.

Re-connect the 3 prong cord to the dryer.

Plug in and test after you have installed the new cord.

Hello. I have an Asko

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Indeed I would suggest it is a fuse as well, based on your description.

1st, If the fuse holders are stripped, that does pose a bit of a problem for changing only the fuse...but it may also be a blessing. Why ? Once the fuses start to go, in my experience with Asko ( and I have lots ) the metal contacts and spring inside the holder are fatigued which causes resistance, hence the fuses tend to blow quite often.

To change them you'll need to remove the entire fuse & holder assembly, but there is a kit which come complete for a relatively reasonable price at "repairclinic.com" for about $50, part # 1460992...no where near $800, ouch.

i.e.

macmarkus_2.jpg

**To do this you'll first need to unplug the unit from the wall or turn off your breaker at your homes service panel...saferty first.**

2nd, No you don't have to replce the fuse with a genuine Asko fuse. It is simply a 15 amp 250v slow blow inline fuse.

Here's what you can do.

macmarkus_3.jpg

Sorry it is so small. Let me know if it is too small to understand and I can email you a copy, maybe you can zoom in on it.

You can reach me at [email protected].

Hope this helps move you forward. I will watch for your reply.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.

Dryer turns but no heat?

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. Based on your description I`d direct you to first check the hi-temp cut out ( safety ) at the back ( black rubber round button )...if you haven`t already. This is quite common on the Asko dryers like yours. If you push this to reset and the unit works, great. I would keep an eye on it though since the hi-limit typically trips for a reason such as a plugged lint filter, plugged vent ot partially plugged or the heater itself is plugged up with lint. Take the lint filter and clean it under some warm water and soap as they do become plugged with wax over time due to fabric softener and static sheets, thus causing the safety to trip. If it doesn`t heat after-wards or it`s not tripped, you`ll need to investigate for a faulty heater element. This is quite involved, so we`ll cross that bridge when you get there...if necessary. Keep me posted on your progress or what you find and then if you require further assistance. Thanks for choosing FixYa. Please take a second to rate the info I provided accordingly. Thanks again and good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)
