Where is the reset button?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

To answer your question "where is the reset button?" I`d direct you to the back...if you haven`t already.

It will look like this...

7995fe6.jpg

If you push this to reset and the unit works, great. I would keep an eye on it though since the hi-limit typically trips for a reason such as a plugged lint filter, plugged vent ot partially plugged or the heater itself is plugged up with lint.

Take the lint filter and clean it under some warm water and soap as they do become plugged with wax over time due to fabric softener and static sheets.

If it doesn`t heat or start after-wards or it`s not tripped, you`ll need to investigate for a faulty heater element.
This is quite involved, so we`ll cross that bridge when you get there...if necessary.

Keep me posted on your progress or what you find.

Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Asko T721 dryer. Support rollers started to fall

  • If you took the drum out and took the belt off you may have put the belt on wrong as there is a switch under the drive or idler pulley that must be pushed on from the pressure of the belt on the pulley. Also go and make sure both breakers are ok in the breaker box as it runs on a 220 volt sys. and if one is tripped this type of thing can occur.
  • Good luck and please rate me if this helped! thanks again for choosing fixya

T721 dryer drum not turning

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I suspect you are fairly accurate in the belt broken theory, based on your description...provided the unit is starting ok otherwise, not often a motor goes bad in an Asko dryer.

If you haven`t already checked the fuses or hi-temp cut out, I would suggest checking those as well. I will touch on that after.

You can confirm of dismiss the broken belt theory easily by way of removing the top or the service panel in the front.

**Unplug the unit from the wall first before servicing, safety first**

If via the top removal...

1) remove the three #25 torx screws along the back top, this will allow you to slide the top straight back and up away from the unit. That should present you with this ( looking from the back )...

e1af162.jpg
As you can see by this image, it will be obvious if the belt is intact.

OR, through the front lower access panel...

2) Remove the two philips head screws on either side of the panel and the panel should pull straight off. You should see this...

016c7e9.jpg
As with the previous image, you can now inspect the belt status and condition...perhaps with a flashlight/torch.

If the belt is broke it is relatively easy to replace. Let me know what you find. Belt original Asko part # 80 526 26, but subs to 1154685 and usually will come new with tension spring and instructions "how to" at "repairclinic.com"

To check the fuse and hi-temp safety/cut out, access is at the back and there is no need to remove any panels...yet.

The Asko fuses are located at the back directly below the cord entering the dryer...

i.e.

f472ef6.jpg
To remove them, simply use a small knife or flat blade screwdriver inserted into the horizontal slots and turn it 45° left or until the slot is vertical...

i.e.

9f5c348.jpg
The fuse holder should "pop" out slightly to allow you to pull it all the way out...

i.e.

b7351c9.jpg
It is necessary to check them with an ohm meter or by way of installing a replacement 15amp slow-blow fuse.

As a technician I also make it a habit to remove the top and check the wiring leading to and from the fuse holder assembly...

i.e. these are in good condition, it`s ok to replace the fuses.
1d6f6d9.jpg
**In some cases the fuse holder and hub ( included in kit # 1460992 shown below ) become fatigued and may need to be replaced should the fuse fail again in a short term.**

e7a7586.jpg

The individual fuses by Asko original are # 80 581 40, though you will likely need to by the complete kit unless you can go to a local electronics store and ask for a 15amp 250v slow blow in-line fuse.

Last but not least the safety thermostat, aka the hi-temp cut out. It is located on the back wall under the small black "button" and is a manual reset with a simple push...

i.e.

0d17834.jpg
As for a parts list and breakdown of your dryer, I do have them on my pc in adobe pdf, however they are too large to post here. If you wanted one you would have to post an email address in your reply where I can send it in the form of an "pdf" attachment.

Let me know how you make out and what you find. Good luck.

Macmarkus :)

My Asko T721 Electric Dryer is having drying troubles

Here's the answer:
The dryer has a thermo protection "fuse" that pops-out when the lint filter is not cleaned and air will not flow properly. When the airflow is restricted the dryer gets too hot and the "fuse" pops. Then it will not run unless you stand there and hold the start button in. As soon as you stop pressing the button the dyer stops running.
Clean the filter ESPECIALLY the "internal" filter. This one is behind the lower skirt of the machines face. There are two Torex head screws (T20) to be removed and the skirt comes right off.
Inside you see two red handles that you turn to open the filter door. Open the door and pull out the filter. It is a long metal finned box. Take it to your bathtub and run a ton of water through both ends to remove the lint inside. You'll be surprised at how much.
O K now let's "fix" the "fuse". Here it is likely you will need to pull the machine away from the wall. The fuse is a black plastic button about the size of a penny. It sits in the center of the machine's backside. It faces up a bit and if you have clearance you can reach your arm over the machines top and press it "in" with a finger. It clicks when you do so. This part is a no brainer. The dyer will now start properly.
The hard part to all of this is pulling the machine away from the wall since like me you probably have it sitting on top of an Asko washer. Take your time. You can do it.
