Hello,
Welcome to
FixYa.
I suspect you are fairly accurate in the belt broken theory, based on your description...provided the unit is starting ok otherwise, not often a motor goes bad in an
Asko dryer.
If you haven`t already checked the fuses or hi-temp cut out, I would suggest checking those as well. I will touch on that after.
You can confirm of dismiss the broken belt theory easily by way of removing the top or the service panel in the front.
**Unplug the unit from the wall first before servicing, safety first**
If via the top removal...
1) remove the three #25 torx screws along the back top, this will allow you to slide the top straight back and up away from the unit. That should present you with this ( looking from the back )...
As you can see by this image, it will be obvious if the belt is intact.
OR, through the front lower access panel...
2) Remove the two philips head screws on either side of the panel and the panel should pull straight off. You should see this...
As with the previous image, you can now inspect the belt status and condition...perhaps with a flashlight/torch.
If the belt is broke it is relatively easy to replace. Let me know what you find.
Belt original Asko part # 80 526 26, but subs to 1154685 and usually will come new with tension spring and instructions "how to" at "repairclinic.com"
To check the fuse and hi-temp safety/cut out, access is at the back and there is no need to remove any panels...yet.
The
Asko fuses are located at the back directly below the cord entering the dryer...
i.e.
To remove them, simply use a small knife or flat blade screwdriver inserted into the horizontal slots and
turn it 45° left or until the slot is vertical...
i.e.
The fuse holder should "pop" out slightly to allow you to pull it all the way out...
i.e.
It is necessary to check them with an ohm meter or by way of installing a replacement 15amp
slow-blow fuse.
As a technician I also make it a habit to remove the top and check the wiring leading to and from the fuse holder assembly...
i.e. these are in good condition, it`s ok to replace the fuses.
**In some cases the fuse holder and hub ( included in kit # 1460992 shown below ) become fatigued and may need to be replaced should the fuse fail again in a short term.**
The individual fuses by
Asko original are # 80 581 40, though you will likely need to by the complete kit unless you can go to a local electronics store and ask for a 15amp 250v slow blow
in-line fuse.
Last but not least the safety thermostat, aka the hi-temp cut out. It is located on the back wall under the small black "button" and is a manual reset with a simple push...
i.e.
As for a parts list and breakdown of your dryer, I do have them on my pc in adobe
pdf, however they are too large to post here. If you wanted one you would have to post an email address in your reply where I can send it in the form of an "pdf" attachment.
Let me know how you make out and what you find. Good luck.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)
