Hello &
Welcome to FixYa
The problem is with the float switch assembly
that is bad and needs replacement. A float switch
on a dishwasher is designed for one thing, to stop the water flow from the
dishwashers water valve. To access the dishwasher float switch regardless
of the make or model, 99% of dishwashers are accessed from behind the toe kick
panel i.e by removing the front bottom access panel. When the timer or main control call for
water, power is sent through the float switch wires, when the dishwasher has
filled up raising the plastic mushroom looking piece high enough, the switch
will stop power from getting to the water valve. That is the idea behind the
switch, to further test this switch with a volt meter you can view this video:

Maytage dishwasher
Hi Fix it mom,
If your courageous, pull the trays out of the way and remove the screen in bottom of the dishwasher to see if something is getting into the pump. By something I mean undesired matter. Straw, Twist tie, knife, toothpick, etc... I hope this helps

Hi
If you have already tried leaving it unplugged for a while then the issue is with the control board that has gone bad and should be replaced to solve this issue. You can also try to blow some compressed air on the electronic control and see if that works. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Regarding Maytag Dishwasher, model # mdb4651aww3.
I have same problem with my Maytag. Had a repair guy come out and he said it's the 'controller card', not the button touchpanel. The controller card is $127 and not in stock and there's a 'several month wait'. I'm not going to wait, going to buy something used for less than the price of a new controller card. Maytag's quality has really deteriorated in the past few years. They used to have a 5yr warranty on pretty much everything - now it's only 1yr. (and of course, mine failed just a few weeks after the 1 yr time.
Won't start.
This could be a bad door switch. Check switch for continuity.
Also check for burned or broken wires on the door switch and on the timer.
The timer could be bad.
Hope this helps.

This is most likely a problem with the timer.
The timer switch rotates and changes the operations that your machine executes.
It is probably the timer motor that is defective. Sometimes they can be replaced by themselves. Sometimes you must replace the whole assy.
If you need more help, post a comment and I will reply
No water is coming to dishwasher
Check and see if you have 120 comming to the fill valve. if you do the start to loosen the hose you connected to make sure the valve actually opened when you turned the water back on
Grinding noise - Maytag dishwasher MDB7100
I suspect something hard like a fragment of chicken bone or a citrus seed is at the inlet to the drain pump (my favorite was a plastic pull strip from a frozen juice concentrate can - that was LOUD). Many dishwashers have a chopper similar to that in a garbage disposal right before the pump inlet, but some things like bone won't go through it. It could be something light enough to float and only hits the pump when the water level drops. You may have to remove the pump cover in the bottom of the dishwasher to find it. This would be a good time to clean any garbage out of the lower spray arm and check the spray arm bushing for excess wear.
