Thank you so much! I had struggled with getting this cover off for 20 minutes or so. It's just like the other poster said; you have to put a flat head screwdriver into the bottom corners of the front cover and push outward to get the cover off. It takes some doing if your unit is as old as mine is, but with some work it will come off. I was afraid I was breaking the cover because it was pretty hard to remove. But it worked. Thanks!

Hello, the unit must be tilted back in the window to prevent the condensate from leaking inside. Some units will have a drain plug on the bottum, while others use the condenser fan to scoop up the condensate and splash the condenser to keep it cooler and evaporate the condensate.

The CAPACITOR is connected to one of the COILS of the MOTOR. So check on this one coil goes to the mains and other to the capacitor and the common to the mains supply.
You can refer to any link to give a description of a motor wiring.

Most have a washable filter... it is just inside or integrated into the front grille

Make sure your filters are clean first. Then you can get the refrigerant charge checked and some added if necessary. I would get some prices first. Its just about as cheap to get a new window unit as it is to get one charged so check around first.

Hello, it is better to remove the unit from the window and place it out side, this way when you spray the water and you can be sure it does damage any components. When spraying the water dont use too much pressure.

It's not the unit that you have to worry about for CSA or OSHA. It's how you intend to install it. You have to use the proper installation guidelines as approved by OSHA. I do know that going outside a wall or window you must have the proper bracket/frame installed outside the exterior wall to prevent it from falling on someone's head if high enough. If down low, they still have to be braced/bracketed properly to avoid injury. That's standard procedure.

You need to find out what OSHA has for safety guidelines and restrictions. Also check with your local building code office to check with their pre-set guidelines. They have to be automatically in compliance with OSHA if they intend to operate guidelines for business purposes. So Call either- or both. It's not the unit you need to worry about unless it's very old. Good Luck.
