Can I hook up cable TV to my Aki a TV model pdp4290
Hi Roger, your Akai PDP4290 TV, is a Monitor, does not bring antenna or cable input
To be able to use it as a Channel Television, you must use a Decoder of some Television service and connect it to one of the inputs that your Akai has
I hope you can solve the problem

While watching it powerd off and has not powerd on since
Good day!!!!
That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..
Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..
1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

AKAI PDP4273M1 - Unit powers up then shuts down.
I just repaired one for the same trouble. The input to the main processor from the standy switch had shorted to groung. This was probably caused by static inserted when pushing the power button. The processor is not a replaceable part. The part number for the main board is E3761-058010-2. It costs between $140 and $150. I found it on-line at Shopjimmy.com.
Good Luck!

Akai pdp4273m1 has sound but no picture
I also have the akai PDP4273M1 tv with power and no picture and I looked at the power supply board inside and found 1 of the FMG26S chips blown and I am looking into replacing this to see if that does it and if not do a search for SANKEN PSC10165B M and for approx 170.00 you can get a whole new power supply for it and its easy to put in..

Akai 4290 power board
Yes, I'm sure the board is bad. I had the TV checked out by a local TV repair shop. I also opened the thing up to see if I could do anything with it and it's obvious that this is the board that has bitten the dust. The correct number for the board is AA98-00188A. I made a typo in the first post.

you need to check the screen voltages inside the unit is a sticker with
the voltages on it, if all the voltages are normal, could be the panel
is bad, if the voltages are low or nonexistant it could be the

LCD TV/DVD Combo image washout
Instead of reloading the DVD multiple times, when the set is doing this try jaring it with the palm of your hand on a corner near where the DVD goes in. If it clears up when you tap it, maybe you just have a bad connection inside that needs repairing.

Where i get the EHT of Akai Tv
EHT or Extra High Tension is the power supplied to the final anode of the cathode ray tube.
The EHT is traditionally generated by the line transformer from the flyback pulse of the line oscillator/amplifier.
The generated high frequency high voltage current was from the outset rectified by a thermionic diode (eg. EY51, EY86) but by the late 1960s/early 1970s technology brought high voltage diodes and semiconductors rapidly replaced the old technology and the output from the line transformer then typically fed the anode via a semiconductor voltage doubler.
The rectified EHT was originally smoothed by a high voltage oil-filled capacitor but that was soon deleted in favour of spraying the outside of the CRT with a metallic paint and grounding it. This became the high voltage smoothing capacitor with the glass of the CRT being the dielectric and the final anode the positive pole...

My Akai has lost a much watched channel overnight. I have tuned the channels, but still unable to recover. What else can I try?
Check if the channel is off-the-air due to an issue at the transmitter. After a severe storms, some local stations lost their transmitter because the tower fell. More often, the transmitter hardware can fail. One station repeater near me had an interesting period where it didn't get the incoming signal from the primary transmitter.
Check that your antenna hasn't shifted to point away from the transmitter. Reposition the antenna, if needed. If you have an amplifier on your antenna, check if that has been damaged. If it has been damaged, replace it. My household found that the antenna/splitter became a filter for one VHF channel when damaged by a lightning strike. The check was to connect the antenna to one TV without the amplifier.
The other common issue is interference. Has there been construction in your area that added a large building between you and the transmitter?
I hope this helps.
