Vertical lines aren't generally caused by a bad panel, horizontal lines are...remove the cables going from the Tcon board to the panel, both at the tcon and panel, wipe them down and re seat them and see if that takes care of the issue, if it doesn't replace the timing board, I don't think this is a panel issue

If this is the model with a light engine, then there lies your problem. Your filters in the engine are burning up. The light engine will need to be replaced. If this is an older model with the 3 tubes you might be able to adjust your red green and blue tubes to get the picture back in good standings. Not likely the Dish remote will have that remote code at all in it--some of those sets were made by Samsung so try those codes also.

Based on your description it appears there may be something wrong with the buffer board. The repair business these days is a lost art and now all they do is identify the offending board and simply replace it entirely. There is no cheapo, cheapo fix to your issue.

You need to unplug it let it drain the power for a few hours. Unscrew the back panel and Look for the blown capacitors on the PSB power supply board. Power supply board is usually in the center and it will be printed on the board itself. The caps should be completely flat (X)-top cap view. No puffed split or bulged caps. A solder kit w flux from harbor freight or radio shack and a set of new Thru hole caps is what your going to need.

Its a power supply problem. A capacitor has gone bad. If you open the back panel - check the board of the power supply. It will have numerous capacitors soldered on to it. The faulty one will have its top surface - bulged out. Read the specs on it. Then buy a new one of same or higher rating from radioshack. Replace it. (To do this you should be familiar with the art of soldering. If not take help from an electronic technician)

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.
