Remove the monitor and try it on another pc with xp or better. If it is working you have pc problems - remove all the ram and reinstall one stick at a time.

The Elo ET1527L Monitor has stereo speakers. Within the OSD (On Screen Display) you can control several properties of the monitor like; brightness, contrast, positioning, color, and SOUND. See the buttons on the right side. I recommend setting the sound to 100%. The speakers are small and weak. They are pointed to the rear, I assume for customers to hear. The buttons do have a lock-out feature too. If they don't respond, while on, hold down the top two buttons and the screen should display Lock / Unlock. Wait until you see the one you want and then release. The power button lock out works the same way, holding top and 3rd button to lock/unlock.
