The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. Hi, if the stripes are only on playback on the LCD screen, your screen if failing...if the lines appear when your memory card is played back on your computer, then the problem is related to your sensor. Most likely it is the screen. The repair on this is more than likely more than the value of the camera. (as a sidebar...try tapping your camera LIGHTLY on a table, if the problem gets better or worse, something is loose inside your camera!)

Press the self-timer button (marked with a one-handed clock) once for ten-second delay, twice for three-second delay, three times to cancel timer.

Press the MENU button. Select the wrench icon. Select "Sound settings". Select "Start-up sounds". Select "Off"

Make sure that you're using fully charged battery pack.
Remove the battery and reinsert it.
Try using different battery if available use AC adaptor and check..
If the issue persists with different battery, service is required

Make sure the battery is fully charged. If it isn't then charge it up and hopefully your problem is solved. If it is fully charged take it out of the camera for a minute or so then put it back in. Try turning the camera on.

try these:-

• connect it to pc and on it
• vaccum the barrel of lens
• changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
• shake it.
• on and off in different positions
• hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

Your Nikon takes 8MP pictures which file size is around 4MB each. If you have a small card it can be filled quickly.

I had the same problem and discovered that aftermarket replacement batteries may not fit as smoothly as the OEM battery. With the battery cover open, hold the camera upside down and keep giving slight tap on the top and sides, it should come out. If not, give it a few sudden jerks, while holding it upside down. The battery may slide out suddenly, so be careful to grab it in time, or do this on your bed. This solution has worked for me.

There is a slight possibility that it's a memory card problem. Try another memory card, or format this one. You could also try to dry the contacts with a dry fabric.

If it doesn't work, send it for service.
