Crazy buzzing

most probably you have bad capacitors in the powersupply of the invertor board, check for bulged tops of the capacitors and replace them

When i turn on the

This is usually either a problem with the controller board or the actual LCD inside the display.

You should be able to find one of these monitors with a bad power board on eBay for cheap and just replace the guts of yours with the parts (minus the power board) from the 'new' one.

It would likely be better to just buy a new one if you are out of warranty.

Sorry about that.

No power

This is a common problem across many monitors, unfortunately. The problem stems from one of two things, typically.

It is either the Power Inverter board (Inverter Mirage Electronics AD-1700 Rev:F 200-000-170DTL1 VERSION:A) or a weak or dying backlight.

If your monitor comes on for 2 seconds then you can test the backlight by using the controls to get into the backlight brightnes settings on the OSD and turning it WAY down.

If that dosen't work then it is likely bad capacitors on the Power board mentioned above. If you feel adventurous and know how to solder then you might be able to fix this yourself. You need to be careful however because you are dealing with high votage in there and capacitors CAN hold a charge long after you have unpluged the unit. You can read more about this power board as well as how to replace the bad caps HERE.

If that's not for you then I would recomend taking it to a local TV shop for them to fix. The parts shouldn't be more than $20, but labor can be expensive.

Or you could replace the monitor. You can get some nice ones from Newegg.com from around $100. Remember to recycle PC parts responsibly!

I have solved this for other LCD monitors, and have worked with other problems on this model. Most likely, the VGA signal is not reaching the controller chip intact. This will cause the mode detection to select the wrong resolution or continuously switch resolutions. If colors are missing or wrong, and the image is otherwise correct, then it is with the 3 analog color signals: red, green, or blue. This does not sound like your problem, so I suspect one or both of the two digital timing signals: VSYNC or HSYNC. Here are the troubleshooting methods and solutions:
1) Try the monitor on another computer to confirm a monitor problem!
2) Use a different VGA cable, in case it has an intermittent wire, or a bad connection.
3) Check to make sure that the light remains green. If off, the power supply is bad. If amber, the computer is not generating a signal, or the VSYNC and HSYNC are not arriving in the monitor.
4) If none of the above solves it, you will need to open the monitor. This is tricky. Remove the power cord. Remove the 4 philips screws on the bottom of the panel. Try to free the 3 "L" hooks on each side by pushing the bezel toward the top. You will probably need a thin and wide flat blade screwdriver to pop the case. Start sliding under the bezel from the bottom of the right hand side until it catches. A light twist will separate it. Slide up to next catch.
5) With power cord out, and bezel off, check the 15 pin VGA connector for corrosion and solder joints. Clean, replace, or resolder, as necessary. You can also check the cable from the VGA connector to the board.
Hopefully, this should allow you to fix the problem.

KDS K717s 17" LCD Monitor

The white screen tells me that the display cable (inside your monitor) may be unattached or broken.
The color bands if they are vertical or horizontal lines tell me that your display cable needs to be replaced.

So overall replace your display cable. If this doesn't entirely fix the problem your logic board (inside the monitor) needs to be replaced.

How to brighten monitor

i have a few thing to help you with this problem, but first if the monitor old, used a lot or left on all the time than it is time for new on. first right click on screen using the mouse than go down to screen resolution than find the detect button after thats done go to Identify select that one, after you done all that than go to advanced settings and open the folder, than check the adapter, monitor, troubleshoot, color management, than select color management check all settings. 2 way is to go to control panel open color management folder, for your general information for you monitor and other options you mite want to review understanding color management settings find advanced tab find calibrate display, it will run a lot of tests and have you answer some question about visual site and what you like in the settings of the monitor. you mite look in to video card manufacture and see if they have any tools for the drivers game apps or programs that runs other than video card drivers, like i have nvidia video card and i went to there website and downloaded so software, nvidia control panel for gamers, 3d adjusting color settings and video image settings, change the aspect ratio, resulation, refresh rate, lots of tools for games and gamers and i do not play a lot of games but i like to have a lot of option that i would not have had before. thank you rod PS make sure all drivers are up to date you will find it in control panel and than open device manager and find video drives, monitors, display adapter.

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor. 2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor. 3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on. 4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works). 5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord. 6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.
