I have a mustang 98 and i install 2 speakers
Replacing 2 speakers will not cause engine whine. Did you install amplifiers and subwoofers or just replace 2 existing speakers? If it was an amplifier install then engine whine is a very difficult thing to diagnose and fix.

New Xm, went through the steps in manual; no sound in car
The stations you set it to have to be complete static for the xm to come in. Your best bet if you head unit has an aux input is to buy an aux cable(few dollars) and hardwire it. it will give you the best quality for sound for xm.

How do I get a signal back after I have a dead
With all the anti-theft deterrents placed in cars now if you disconnect the battery so as to bypass the alarm (even though all your doing is replacing the battery) in allot of cases the factory radio disables itself to render it useless to someone stealing it. The reset code should have come in your owners manual and if you don't have it then you will have to go to the dealer and prove ownership. They should provide you with the needed code but then may charge you to reset it. In the future if you replace the battery and the previous one isn't completely dead a set of small jumper wires to keep 12vdc on your electrical system will prevent this in the future.

XM radio tunes to random station when turned on
There is an internal battery to hold the station and presets. It is probably no good. Either that or there is something very wrong with the unit.
Here is what I recommend. Call XM. Tell them your receiver is not longer functioning correctly and that you are thinking about canceling your service because you don't have a receiver. They will then offer you a receiver because they don't make much money on them, the make their money on the service.
that's how you get a new free satilite radio.

XMP3 Portable has no
The menu option does not show up unless you have something connected to the line out port and only when it's docked. It's kinda lame that it works that way.

I have XM radio in my chevy malibu. Worked fine
I believe when the antenna loses power it does not show it on the screen sounds like there might be a break in the antenna wire or simply came out of socket in the rear of the radio.

How do i change the channel
Hello restart90,
1) Press BAND to select between XM DIRECT, XM1 And XM2 bands.
2) Press TUNE << or TUNE >> to select the next higher or lower channel. Press and hold to advance quickly.
3) Press BAND to select XM DIRECT. Enter the desired channel number by using the preset buttons 1-0, then press FUNC for 3 seconds to confirm the channel. Display will show "CH---" if channel is not available and the current channel will be retained.
Hope this helps.

XM Online "Waiting for video" in Firefox 3.x
The solution was quite simple: Disable VLC plugin ( or don't install it at all ). Here's how to do it in Firefox:
Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins -> VLC Multimedia Plug-in 0.9.9.0 -> Disable

I have a BMW 1991 520 and the radio wont work and
If you want the code...then .....
First make sure that the code has not been noted somewhere within the car (underneath the ash tray, glove box , rear of sun visor etc)
To see if your code is available here for free then the radio will have to be removed from the dashboard (and if you are lucky, someone may have written the code on the casing ) .
If not then POST ANOTHER QUESTION
quoting the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING
note: Unfortunately not all radios can be decoded using the Serial Number
If not available then try your Main Dealer ...........or take it into a Decode Service who will plug in a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM). This takes a few minutes and shouldn`t be too expensive

Radio installed into the car. When radio is set
is it plugged into the cigarette lighter? or is it hardwired. If it is plugged into the cigarette lighter, check the fuse for "CIG" in the Main Fuse panel, mostlikely it is blown. Replace. 15AMPS

I have no xm channels
Sounds to me like a faulty tuner. I would explain all of this to the dealership, and have them replace the tuner. It's not built in to the radio, and is the only thing other than an antenna that could cause this problem, I mean it is POSSIBLE for the issue to be in the radio, but wouldn't be my first guess.
Regardless of what the problem is, it's new, and should be covered under warranty.
Good Luck!

AM radio fuzzy now
I have to disconnect the power supply (I installed a switch) to shut off entirely the XM power supply as it will wipe-out your AM reception. Nothing you can do other than put in a switch. Even if the XM unit is OFF, you will still get the interference from the power supply.
