That pop sound was your lamp blowing up. The crackling you here now is the ballast trying to light the lamp. Replace your lamp.

You can try www.partstore.com, and you can call your local TV repair shops, sometimes, they have exter screens lying around.

Try the soft reset, with set on and original remote hit 1,2,3 enter, some versions require menu first.

U buy this tv as a brand new tv not as an open box product?Yes.U have the wright to return this tv and get a replacement tv from that store.If tv was bought as a open box product,call mitsubishi for a warrenty repair.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. Basing the replacement of the board on the clicking sound of a relay trying to close is not a safe bet. The first thing you need to do is check the bulb. Then there is a ballast board and then the Power supply board. Parts might be hard to find. Most likely a fuse blew when the lamp blew, there is internal fuses on the power supply board on these mitsubishi's, if the fuse is ok though then most likely another component somewhere failed.
