Wont come on
How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy.

How to fix the ballast on my tv
Presuming the ballast is bad it is only available as a complete unit---Google the model number with "ballast" to locate a part number and or the part.

62 in LCD mitsubishi
Not too sure about the thumping, possibly the cabinet expanding and/or contracting with heat, the lack of and weather change. But the scratching sound could very well be the HV discharge. So, not being able to hear it myself, I would suspect that yes it's probably normal.

My Mitsubishi wd-63527 turns on for a few seconds and shuts itself off.
The set may have (some models) a recessed reset button on front but that rarely does any good. This model should have two resets other than that one----soft reset if it has it is with Mitsubishi remote: On, Menu,1,2,3 enter.Set also has a hard reset which requires a four digit number code and resets set back to factory---it is a last resort and should not be done unless the soft one does not help.I would have the remote tested as without it you cannot do any reset--Most digital cameras in a dimly lighted or dark room will react on screen display when a remote is pointed at them and buttons pushed or most shops have a tester which will show and react to each and every button when remote is pointed at them and buttons pressed. This model could have a keyboard lock feature which disables the keyboard but remote should still function.First thing is to know if remote actually is working or not.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-62530.
If you have sound and no picture on a DLP it usually means that there is a problem with the Lamp. When you say amber light, does this mean that its the amber lamp light?

My TV turned off after a power surge, now a red
If the Lamp light is steady, the lamp has failed and must be replaced. The TV will not work until the lamp is replaced (and the lamp cover is properly attached). Call (800) 553-7278 to get a replacement lamp from the manufacturer. Order lamp part number 915P028010. Once you have the replacement lamp, make sure that the TV is off for at least 30 minutes before replacing. Avoid touching the lamp glass - it will shorten the lamp life. Unplug the TV and use a Phillips screw driver to remove the lamp cover from the back of the TV (2 screws hold it on the right hand side) . Loosen the two screws that hold the lamp cartridge (one on the bottom left corner and one of the top right corner). These screws will not come completely out. Grasp the handle and pull the lamp cartridge out straight towards you. Place the new lamp cartridge completely into the opening then tighten the two screws that hold the cartridge. Replace the cover and screw it back into place.
If the lamp cartridge or cover are not properly secured, the TV will not come on. (There is a safety interlock).
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells
(the lamp should last at least a year; if not, contact the manufacturer for a warranty repair.)
