This will depend on the Blue ray player and other equipment. For a direct connection to the receiver, if your player has either type of digital audio output (coaxial or optical), get the appropriate cables. If your player doesn't have a digital audio output, check your TV audio output. You can get the same result by sending the videos via HDMI to the TV and using the TV audio out to the receiver. Set the audio source to TV and leave it there for both TV and Blue ray and DVD videos. (Sometimes there could be a slight delay in the audio compared with the video signal when you do this. I've never noticed it with my Blue ray player signal going to the TV and the TV digital audio out to the Denon receiver.) If you can't send the audio out to the receiver from either your Blue ray player or TV, then you will need some sort of HDMI audio extractor. I expect your tuner/amp has a fair number of ultra sensitive CMOS devices inside and a power surge is likely to be instant ***** for them - if the surge reached them. Any piece of equipment that has a computer inside really should be protected by an anti-surge device. Your Denon tuner/amp is a bit of really premium equipment and I advise you it is best to entrust it's resurrection to a Denon approved repairer.

I find the best way to connect any equalizer is to connect via the tape monitor sockets, assuming that the AVR has one. From the equalizer in and out sockets - connect the Eq OUT to Tape IN on the AVR. And Eq IN to Tape OUT on the AVR. Some AVR don't allow connections, due the equalizer interfering with Surround Sound systems. If you can connect switch off the equalizer when listening to Dolby or other surround formats, as it will spoil the sound.

I would guess it's the Surround Sound mode button. Various modes in Surround Sound do not use all 5 speakers. Often the button pressed repeatedly changes between the modes. So if you press it again it might restore the sound mode to the one you had. I can't be more specific as you did not give the model number. You could try the Denon website to see if they have a free PDF of the user manual, if you have lost it. You will need the model number for that though.

Try unplugging it. Another thing is some units have a fuse in the back. Check the fuse with a multimeter for continuity. If meter shows OL then replace the fuse.
