Western Digital Passport WDXML800UE (WDXML800UETE) 80 GB Hard Drive - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
USB WD 120gb external Hard Drive the My Computer Icon is missing
The "my computer" icon has nothing to do with the WDD hard drive. You do not say what the "other detail" is. Google on how to perform a System File Check and run that . If it repairs the system files then good, if not then run a chkdsk /R". That should resolve all issues. If you have further problems then tell us what operating system you are using and try and be more specific in what the problem/s are.
My passport 5oo Gig freezes my computer
Yes there is. Please note that removing the drive from your external will likely void any warranty you may have with the manufacturer.
If ok with that, remove the drive from the enclosure very carefully. Then connect the internal drive directly to a SATA connector, do not use USB and see if able to access drive. If so, backup data right away.
If this model is only USB connector, or if still not accessible when connected to SATA, then you will need a reputable data recovery service provider.
In hurry, I unplugged my WD Passport
Plug in the drive and, on the status bar next to the data and time there will be an USB icon Click on "Safety remove hardware and eject media". Once its says its safe to remove media, unplug the hardware and plug it in again after a few minutes and it should start working again. If it still does not work you need to delete your USB driver from system setting and reinstall the driver.
My wd2500 is no longer recognized by my xp pro notebook.
I assume you did reboot your computer and plugged the external HDD to other USB port but still has this issue.
I can only suggest to recover your external HDD to different computer dont rush it, sometimes it takes time to load.
I have a WD1600ME-01 Hard
i tried this, but still can't acces my wd passport. computer finds him but i can't read data from it, neither write down
Cannot copy large files onto my WD passport
Your drive is probably in FAT32 format. FAT32 has a 4GB file limit that is why your 5GB movie isn't saving. You will have to format the drive in Mac OS file format (HFS) using Disk Utility.
Unfortunately once its in Mac format the drive will not be recognized by windows PCs. What I do is have a program called macdrive installed on my windows computers so that they can access mac format hard drives.
i hope this helps!
All my files is shown

I have WD passport 1TB i enter the pass word
There are several free file recovery programs out there. However if the password is still in effect then these won't matter. If it's wiped like the rest of the drive then recovered you then have the same problem have the same problem. If the recovery program does work it usually wants a different drive to write the files to.
What are 80 gb hard drives?
Sounds like your just starting out. A "gb" is the size of the hard drive. The higher the number the more information it will store. If you store a lot of music and videos you'd need a larger hard drive. Technically a "gb" (gigabyte) is about 1000 Megabytes. A terabyte (T) is about 1000 Gigabytes.

I found some solutions already listed here on FixYa that really worked. Here's the link:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t2950434-wd_elements_usb_drive_not_recognized
I also left a comment on exactly what I did to fix my problem using the instructions that were listed thanks to etcrCustomPC. I had tried everything for days including "Safely Removing" the USB Mass Storage Device, and restarting Windows; downloading updated drivers, scanning for changes, and updating drivers on "Device Manager". I went online but did not find anything helpful other than what I had already attempted. I saw "FixYa", and decided to try it out. I kept clicking on all the different sites on "FixYa" listed. Yes, I will go literally through the web until I find or figure out a solution. You could call me a "research investigator". I may not know how to solve the problem, but I will search diligently through lots of "Trial and Error" information until I find one that works. This one definitely worked for me. I hoped this helped. If it does not, I will post all the related links later so it makes searching for a solution a lot easier. Thanks FixYa. I have fallen in love with this website, and adding it to my "Favorites".
Wd passport not recognised after transferring files to another hard drive
I think the hard drive has failed to initialize for mac os .The best suggestion is connect the drive with some other Mac PC and start recovering the drive with the help of a good recovery tool .To
recover failed hard drive mac i used this tool.It is so quick than the other and recovered almost all of my drive completely. It also recovers data from a partitioned mac hard drive completely.first try the
demo if good results reached go for the full version as i did ..
