You can have a dead hard drive or the hard drive is not recognized by the BIOS and you may need to go into the BIOS.

HDD cannot detect

check, whether data cable and power cable to the HDD are intact? then open BIOS and see whether IDE or SATA port enabled? if both fails the HDD is most probably needs replacement.

Unable to open Hard disk drive

try running a check disk to check for errors. In windows command prompt type chkdsk C (substitute C for the letter of the drive). Has anything happened to these drives such as dropping that would cause it to not be readable? What format is the disk FAT or NTFS? Hard disc not working

1st. How many hard disk have u on your computer? 2nd is it booting from the correct one? Identify your boot drive a choose THAT hard disk in the BIOS. If U don't know how to get into BIOS setup read your PC manual That what it is for.... And What does shows nothing means? Black screen with cursor? Dead Monitor? Please stated your problem clearly

File permissions on My Passport for mac

check the compatibility of the external hard drive. It might not support Mac. Probabely you external hard is in NTFS format and you need to reformat/re-partition it for using it in Mac OS.

Hard disk capacity dropped from 1tb to just 32 gb

Windows must have created a partition that is 32G for the recovery media. You can go into disk manager and see the empty space.

hello, one way is to try to recover your data using simple program like hirrens boot cd,if this will wotk then you are done if not you will need to chosse data or hdd.
