It's most likely not a virus. To make sure of that first (if possible) plug in an external USB keyboard and try the keys that are not working on the keyboard to see if they work now. If they work now then there is an issue with the laptop keyboard.
Second make sure that the "Function lock" or "Num lock" button(s) are not pushed, sometimes these features interfere with the functionality of the keyboard. If they are not pushed then you will need to replace the keyboard. If the laptop under warranty then simply call up HP and let them now you are having an issue and they will ship you a replacement. If not then you will need to purchase a new keyboard (I recommend to buy from the manufacturer, but it's really up to you).
If purchasing a replacement keyboard is not an option, then you could try to remove the keyboard yourself (easy to do, most likely there is a few clips to remove then 1 or 2 screws) and try to see if there is anything in there causing an issue (dust, bread crumbs, and in my case hair). If you can clean it up a little bit and re-install it and you should be good to go.
You can reset Internet Explorer settings to what they were when Internet Explorer was first installed on your PC. This is useful for troubleshooting problems that may be caused by settings that were changed after installation. Be aware that this process isn't reversible, and all previous Internet Explorer settings are lost after reset.
Close all open windows and programs.
Open Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet options.
Select the Advanced tab.
In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, select Reset.
In the box, Are you sure you want to reset all Internet Explorer settings?, select Reset.
When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, select Close, and then select OK. Restart your PC to apply changes.
