Here is what you need to do to find the cause of the problem with your lcd monitor.
Disconnect first your monitor from your computer.
1. Inspect the power plug of the monitor. If you have a tester check for open wire. If OK, connect it to your monitor, then plug to a wall outlet. Turn on the monitor...see if the led of the power button lit to green / lit to green then red, no lit at all.
If the led is lit to green.. then power supply of the lcd is OK.
If the led is lit to green then red... the power supply is OK
If the led did not lit at all... power supply is dead.
Please post back...
and tell me which from the three happens in your lcd monitor.
further assistance will be given to you as soon as you reply.
Thanks

Will not stay on
jodiebland, If your pc operates perfectly when connected to a different "known-good" lcd or crt monitor, then you will need to spend some time reading FIXYA profiles of "budmrtn" , "buddymc" , "12fixlouie"(me) and follow info and links you find there. Then pay a visit to YOUTUBE and search out and view video clips(useful ones) that deal with "lcd monitor repair" and "lcd monitor disassembly" !!!! You will truly be amazed with how easy it might be to evaluate and refurbish/repair(cheap) your unit. If you are NOT into DIY stuff, then buy new unit or contract-out the refurbishment to a willing technician($40 to $90) or a manufacturer cash+old unit swapout for a rebuilt unit with 30 day warranty. Let me know what you will do. Do a reply(comment) to this response if you feel that it has helped you in the decision making process. 12fixlouie

Monitor goes black
You may have failed backlight inverter circuits, power supply, lamp assemblies. First place to look will be the power supply section.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Monitor starts, about three minutes no picture but
Hello,
It is the picture picture board on your monitor that is
malfunctioning, since the power led or button is on, but the display screen goes blank after few seconds, it means the
picture
board of your monitor has developed fault.
The best thing for you
to
do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity
or any service center
to help with the replacement of the picture board
because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to
complicate issues.
Take care.
My monitor turns black every 2 minutes.
First thing to do is to check the setting on your PC to make sure the power saivng is not set to turn off the monitor after 2 minutes. Second, try it on another PC. If the problem is still there and you are going to DIY repair, then please read below:

No sound
Hi there,
Firstly make sure that you :
- Check the audio cable connector. (Connect the audio cable to the sound card of your computer.)
- Make sure the computer sound program is working.
- Change the volume on sound setting. Adjust your sound card or computer volume setting.
if all the issues above have been checked and still not produce sound, then maybe you need a User's Guide.
here I included the User's guide download Link (PDF):

Pilotight never shows it is on and monitor never comes on
tommy_hart00, The higher numbered pages of my fixya profile will give you more insight as to possible cause of your unit's failure to start-up and operate correctly. Follow links you find there to other web sites and then make decision to fix or trade for new. Just do some reading first! Your monitor isn't any different than any other CCFL back-lit lcd unit.
