Sampo AlphaScan 712 Monitor Questions & Answers
I have a Sampo S 1522 and the on/off switch will
Cord unplug, on safe working table.
You have to open the back cover remove some of its screw, swivel base. Maybe some retaining clips. Detached the circuit board for space. Then your at it. Replace the switch with exact replacement. Then cover it back.
Be careful not to bend the board. Also nasty voltages inside it.
I have a Sampo PME42x9 monitor that I am trying to
The problem of course is not the computer since you communicate well when using the Samsung TV. The problem is your Sampo. The Video Ports are:
Composite Input (Shared w/ S-Video) RCA-pin x 2 S-Video Input (Shared w/ Composite) Mini DIN 4-pin x 2 Component Video Input RCA-pin x 2 Sets (Y/CB/CR, Y/PB/PR auto detect) DVI Input (with HDCP) DVI-D 24 pin x 1 RGB Input D-Sub 15-pin x 1
If the RGB WILL NOT COMMUNICATE, I suggest you try RCA/DVI/ or shared composite. You may need adapters, but with so many options, just try other methods.

Ac Adapter gets hot and monitor clicks off
AC adapters are prone to voltage spikes and lightening.
It sounds like the AC adapter has taken a hit.
Replace it as soon as possible. This may be a fire hazard.
If the lights in the house dim and brighten a transformer near you may need to be checked. Call the utility company and report the problem.
Other than that, if the AC adapter is getting hot and no apparent damage outside. It has probably sustained internal damage. Continued use could cause fire and/or damage to the monitor.
Good luck!

My monitor Goes blank after about 2 seconds
Dave, You failed to state if these monitors are LCD/FPD or are they old tube type? I'm going to assume that they are of the flat screen lcd type. all monitors of the lcd type need what is called 'backlighting' to display the video information. In your case, maybe the inverter power supply board has detected a fault and go's into immediate shutdown mode. the inverter supply is what lights the long slim cold cathode fluorescent tubes (2) that are used for lcd backllighting in 98% of all small screen lcd monitors. There isn't a lot you can do about these types of failures. You can check with Sampo and see if they have a swapout program where you send old monitor plus some cash and they send you a refurbished ( new tubes+inverter board ) monitor. I myself kinda lucked out when a co-worker brought in his Dell lcd. we opened it up and found some bad capacitors that couldn't take the heat generated inside the case. Yes we unsoldered and replaced them with new and it worked. But that was pure luck. could have been a lot of other things wrong too. you might want to surf around and check out slectronics.net/ or other sites that deal with monitor CCF tubes and inverter repair. the lighting technology you are dealing with is similar to the new 'curlie-que' energy saving-screw-in light bulbs! Hope this helps you out some. I'm lmistyrel @ aol or louie12fix on fixya.

My Employer Says They Are Going To Cut My Wages. Can They?
If you are in the middle of a contract, then cutting your wages is almost certainly a violation of your employment law rights. While I am by no means an expert on this matter, I did have a similar issue years ago - mid-contract wage cuts - and I hired an
employment attorney to fight the case on my behalf. It turned out that my employer was basically looking to scare people into taking the wage cut.
They got into some pretty serious legal trouble for their transgression, and nothing happened to me in terms of wage cuts after that. If you are between contracts, your employer can re-negotiate your salary, but as far as I am aware, if you are in an agreed-upon contract, they cannot just decide to reduce your salary. If you want to settle matters, contest this action with support from a legal professional.
