Protection error in denon avr-3000

Hi,

Do you know what caused the protection shut down in the first place? Did you short your speaker wires even briefly?

You could try to Unplug the Unit for Few Minutes, say 30 minutes and then turn it back ON.Usually that would fix the issue.

If you are going into protect mode with no speaker attached,chances are that your output Ic is in need of replacement .This is the most likely cause of a protection error that you are experiencing.I am having a bit of difficulty in locating specific part numbers but feel confident that replacing outputs will remedy your concern.For further info and parts or authorized service locations in your area I suggest to contact mfg at www.usa.denon.com/ .Click on support or call(201)762-6500.I believe that they have a flat rate service and will give you an estimate.

Still, on the remote possibility that it is just a glitch caused by momentary power interruption or fluctuation, try to re-initialize the microprocessor, a hard reset (not unless this is what you were referring to as rebooted). The reset should force the AVR-3300 to revert back to factory defaults removing glitches, errors in settings & configurations, memory & presets as well as user preferences.

* turn OFF the unit using the POWER button;
* press and hold both SPEAKER A and SPEAKER B;
* without releasing the 2 buttons, press the POWER button;
* release the 2 buttons only when the display starts to flash;
* in the event of no display flashing, repeat the process.

Should the above be not corrective, then it would be a hardware fault and not just a glitch.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hoe i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Cannot turn the receiver on - when I push the

YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM IN THE OUTPUT SECTION OF THE AMPLIFIER AND THUS ACTIVATING THE PROTECTION CIRCUITRY. MAKE SURE IT IS NOT BEING CAUSED BY BAD SPEAKERS. REMOVE THE SPEAKERS, THEN POWER THE RECEIVER UP WITH THIS NO SPEAKER LOAD CONDITION. IF IT STILL GOES INTO PROTECTION, THEN THE RECEIVER WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. THIS IS ALL YOU CAN DO AT THIS POINT, AS YOU HAVE MADE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION IS NOT CAUSING THE PROBLEM, AND THE SERVICE OF THE AMPLIFIER OR POWER SUPPLY SECTION IS VERY INVOLVED AND TECHNICAL IN NATURE. IF YOU SEND IT IN FOR REPAIR, I SUGGEST SENDING IT TO THE SONY REPAIR CENTER, AS THEY HAVE A FLAT-RATE REPAIR FOR THESE RECEIVERS AND YOU WONT BE CAUGHT OFF-GUARD WITH A HIGH PRICED REPAIR. YOU CAN CONTACT THEM AT SONY STLYE=800-571-7669 OR TRY 800-222-7669. THEY WILL TELL YOU WHICH OF THE FOUR REPAIR FACILITIES TO SEND IT TO AND ALSO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE RMA AND FLAT-RATE REPAIR COST. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

My Denon AVR-3300 when turned

You have a speaker that is wired wrong, either a (-) to a (+) or vice verse. 99.99% of Recievers (especially stack systems) have built in device faults that turn off the unit in the event of a mis-wire to prevent damage to the unit its self (like self preservation so to speak) hope this helps

I cannot get my new center speaker to work???

Hi on a Denon receiver you generally have to do two things. By entering the on-screen setup go to speaker setup and select the center speaker and surround speakers if you have them. Depending on the age of the receiver it will ask you to select between yes or no (on or off) or none, small or large.

(most centers are considered small unless they have 5" or larger mid-bass drivers)

Next you will have to select a mode that activates the surround sound mode usually Dolby but many have alternates such as Neo, theater etc..

This should activate the center channel, you will need to then adjust it using the "Tone generator" or the Audessy setup program.

The goal is to have the same amount of sound coming from your front three speakers.
Hope that helps

My receiver wont turn on

Pop the top and check the internal fuse right next to the AC cord input. If it's good, your receiver needs service.

I have a buzz / static that appears for the first 15 minutes.

Hi...

I just opened up an AVR3300..It's trouble is that it goes into stndby
at once.
The BIG power supply caps are VERY swelled at the top.

That would be my informed view on why it's bad.

I suggest you look at that being your possible trouble too.

Willnot power up.

Just open the unit and then check the fuses,if the fuses ok. Then check the filter capacitor in power supply if its ok ,then check the regulator,if its ok. Then check the four transistors output stage of the amplifier. Maybe there is the problem there.

Good luck..

Surround speakers are not working

Yes. Make sure your speakers are first properly connected, then enabled to operate on the setup menu. Then run either a test tone for all channels or media recorded in surround sound or run in 4 channel stereo to test.
Not all media will produce surround effects 100% of the time.

I have a Denon AVR-488..Can you help?

The fans are a poor design the cool the amps inside. I could cook tacos on top of mine. Years ago I developed an external fan the velcros on the rear of the unit. Just find a silencer pc fan from pc power and cooling. Someone will be selling it online. If's a very low noise fan and will not disrupt hi fi output. Attach a plug in transformer to the power wirers on the fan. Make sure it is the correct mV, and amp rating for the fan, and just plug in to the 3300's switching ac outlet on the rear of the Denon. The fan will stick on the denon's outer case on the rear of the unit where there are a few vent holes with velcro. I did that so no warantees were broken by opening up the unit or drilling into the case. I have in instructions if you would them in a document. Just email me at [email protected] and put Denon Fan Instructions in the subject line. Enjoy, BWA
