Denon AVR-1403 Receiver Questions & Answers
Broken
Need a bit more info. Was the unit playing when this happened?,did something get spilled into it? ? can you see any parts burned or damaged?,look carefully. Usually these types of problems are audio power output section or sometimes power supply part failures/
I must have over loaded
Hi, Yes there usually are internal fuses-sometimes they are located on the switches small circuit board either near the front close to where switch is on the unit, or there will be a plastic connecting lever leading from the front to the back somewhere. Other wise they will be located near the power supply section-possibly near the transformer. I hope this helped, and thanks for using FixYa, Good luck, Prodzilla
Cant figure out how to hook up the receiver to my
its old model, will not pass hd video, good only for audio. Connections depend on your equipment. If you use a cable box to watch tv, connect cable box audio out rca connectors (red and white), by an audio rca cable, to audio TV input on the back of the receiver. Now when you swith your receiver to TV input you get sound from cable box trough your speakers.
If you use DVD player: connect audio out of the player to dvd audio input of the receiver. Switch the receiver to DVD input, you have sound from DVD.

Denon AVR-1403/483One of the speakers when connected trips the units power off.
Disconnected it and it works OK without that channel. Connected a different speaker and wire to that channel and it does the same, trips power off. It's acting like a when two wires are shorted. This is not the case as I have tried different wires and speaker. Not sure whats going on. Presently running system without that channel. Hope someone has an idea.
When I turn the unit on it cycles through its
check your speakers for loose or frayed wires touching across causing ashort. if not , remove 1 speaker at a time unit the the unit stops shutting off. replace that speaker and you should be good to go!

disconnect all connections and cycle power once again if you have the same results the amp has an internal problem and will need to be repaired. If the amp stays on start reconnecting and cycle power after you connect each device
Denon AVR-1403 receiver switched from digital to analogue.
There are three modes (Auto, DTM, and PCM) on the input mode switch, on the main unit, selected by repeatedly pressing the input mode switch.
However, if you have already depressed the Analog button in, on the main unit you have predetermined the mode as analog.
On the remote, the INPUT MODE switch combines toggles for 5 choices, [Auto, PCM, DTS, Analog,
Ext. input]
My guess is that either the input mode switch on the main unit and/or the remote are toggled to analog.
DENON 1508 - If i switch on DOLBY PLII I here cracking sound
The Dolby processing IC has failed. The noise you are hearing is digital noise. There is nothing you can do with this other than sending it in for warranty repair. They will change the surround processing board and return the unit to you. Since it is cheaper for them to replace the board, the individual "parts" that failed will never be known. I have changed these in the field before. As a warranty service center we are required to change the IC first. Sending it in to the factory, they will just swap out the board.
