I insert a DVD and the screen message says
check the cd, is it scratched? it could be your sensor beam, there could be dust on it blocking the signal or it could be damaged all together. Does it happen with all cd's and dvd's?

The user's manual is actually fairly easy -- go to radioshack.com and search for the catalog number "1603910". The only hit you'll get will be the manual.
I'm having no luck with the battery so far, however.

For a replacement remote for your model, click on the blue link www.remotes.com and you will find one there. The original remote is no longer manufactured, but they offer a replacement that is as close as possible to original. The price is $39.95. If you want exact, I'd go this route. If you want something not as pricey, you can always opt for a universal remote and you can purchase those anywhere. Hope this answered your question.
