This is a common problem with video processing done in modern A/V receivers known as "video dropout" coined by our home theater enthusiast community. It is caused by a mismatch in video signal processing; you have more than one device between the digital input to output data stream that is designed to decode a video signal, and they are both performing the same thing simultaneously to the video but not at EXACTLY the same time nor exactly the same way so they are out of phase and not completely compatible. A simplification of the problem is that your video is being over processed. The simple solution is remove the processing being done by the receiver by either, if possible, disabling it's video processing capability or disconnecting the video connection. I recommend to connect your cable box and Xbox directly to the projector. If the projector does not have enough inputs to connect both then I recommend an external video switcher.

Denon A 1705 will not produce anything on the

hi,

Servicing the unit requires a service manual like the one here @

http://www.s100-manuals.com/search.asp?q=denon%20avr%2017

a ) You need to open the unit and check for regulators, protection

circuits, preamplifier circuits and the main amp circuits.

b ) These trouble can be attributed to loose of audio

signal being sent to each main amp of the unit.

c) These can also possibly be from the protection circuits or

to the microprocessor .

d ) To start diagnosing the unit measure offset voltages on each

main amp output stage particularly on the center of the twin resistor

or to the test point indicated on the board.

e ) Having an over of 0.7V will activate the protection circuits thus

having no output on the speakers and sometimes will show

Protect indicator on the panel.

f ) Although at times , one way to tackle circuits like these is to

have a signal tracer.

here is a tip just in case you need to have an overview how to

troubleshoot the missing audio, these one is more basic than yours

but the principle is the same.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4008719-diagnose_not_having_audio_right_channel

g ) These are just for the process of eliminating the cause, till

we can prove something then that would be the area we will be

concentrating on.

Let me know if you need further assistance after probing around.

Thank you for choosing FixYa for assistance. I hope that my

information proves useful to you. If so, please take a moment

Denon AVR-1705 Missing Video Functions?

Hello,

What you need to do is connect all your devices to the Denon Using the best connections (Yellow Video=OK, S-Video=good, Component green-red-blue=better and HDMI=best. if you do not have a DVD that upconverts to 1080i or p when using HDMI, I would use component cables where available from your devices to the Denon other wise use the next best connection available and if connecting digital audio make a chart of all connection so you can setup everything when your ready for programming the Denon

Video does not work

Hi
The settings on many DVD players and TVs may need to be set to indicate the type of input/output being used(RGB vs YUV/YPbPr, and if set wrong the image may not be properly displayed. Try Look for such settings in your TV and/or Amp!

Unit only stays on for 4 seconds then turns itself off.

This is a short or unstable ohm load. Remove all speaker wire connections to see if the amp will stay on.
If the problem goes away when disconnecting the speaker wires try this:
1) Check volume level on zone one and zone 2 if connected. If it is too high the amp will go into protect mode and shut off exactly as you described.
2) Make sure no wires are touching any other wire or the metal surface of the amp. This will cause a short and send the amp into protect mode.

Most likely your speakers are swiched off. Meaning most receivers have a button on the receiver that switches between speakers A or B or (A and B) and in your case A and B are both switched off. If I'm wrong there is probably something wrong with your receiver.
