Hoover Nextra HNF 3157 Front Load Washer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Washing machine wont spin
A lot of times the bearing wear... they are placed around the drum and maybe sticking.. If it squealed or made funny noises check those first. It would be like putting on a break and trying to drive a car.
My washer will spin but
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Belt keeps coming off drum
Hi, welcome to FixYa. If the belt continually slips off you may want to try tightening the belt by way of loosening the bolt on the motor bracket usually gold or brass in color and pull the motor down slightly but firm and refasten the bolt. Either that or the belt itself has become too worn/stretched and just needs to be replaced. Also insure the drive pulley is tight and not "wabbling" in a manner that would throw the belt off. In extreme cases it can also be caused by excessive load size, improper detergent/too much detergent or unstable footing. Hope that helps. Thanks for choosing FixYa. Good luck going forward. macmarkus :)
Not spinning in high speed
possibly a faulty "off-balance" detector, but not sure...try to purposely make it go off balance during wash...maybe a few pairs of sneakers?
My hoover hnf3157 machine spins briefly after a wash
I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
anything to me. It's been about 55 years since I had experience with front load washers. However I can refer you to
www.applianceaid.com where they have very good and complete trouble shooting and repair information on front loaders. I think you'll find what you need there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.
Washing machine not heating water
Washin machines "do not" have heating devices, make sure to check your water heater and turn it back on to get your water heated.
That will get you back in hot water business.
GOOD LUCK.
Error message EC03 appears on cotton cycle after 5 minutes into wash
I found the basic instructions that came with the washing machine and found that you need a screwdriver to undo a screw to remove the filter cover. I then gradually released the filter cover to empty the water out of the machine in small quantities into a shallow tray. I was then able to remove the filter and clear it of 2 x 20p pieces and a load of gunk. I then removed the 'washable' floormat from the drum as the rubber backing from the mat was crumbling and probably not helping the filter. Filter cleaned and cover screwed back in, mat in the bin, and everything working fine since.
I did try ringing the customer support number and after pressing loads of keys to select appropriate options; confirming my address, postcode, name, date of birth, email address, mothers maiden name, what the kids had for breakfast etc, I was allowed to ask how to get the filter cover off. Apparently this is a technical query and would involve arranging an engineer to call. I declined this very kind service option and opted for a screw driver, common sense and a positive attitude. Worked for me! No blood shed, a tiny bit of sweat whilst trying to get through on phone, and only tears of joy when I fixed it all by myself.
My Hoover H dish wont start when i touch the start buttons i have 3 flashing lights
When you encounter flashing lights on your Hoover H dishwasher and the appliance is not responding as expected, it indicates that there might be a problem with the dishwasher's operation. The specific meaning of the flashing lights can vary based on the dishwasher model and its error code system. However, here are some general troubleshooting steps you can take:
- Check the Manual: Refer to your dishwasher's user manual or guide. Look for a section that explains the meaning of the flashing lights and any corresponding error codes. The manual may provide guidance on what steps to take to resolve the issue.
- Power Reset: Turn off the dishwasher and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the control board and resolve minor glitches.
- Check for Door Lock Issue: Some dishwashers have a safety feature that prevents them from starting if the door is not closed properly or the door latch is faulty. Make sure the door is securely closed and the latch is functioning correctly.
- Check Water Supply: Ensure that the water supply to the dishwasher is turned on and there are no kinks or blockages in the water inlet hose.
- Inspect Drainage: Check the dishwasher's drainage system for any clogs or obstructions. A blocked drain can prevent the dishwasher from starting.
- Cancel Any Previous Cycles: If there was a previous cycle that was interrupted or not completed, try canceling that cycle and then select a new cycle to see if the dishwasher starts.
- Child Lock: Some dishwashers have a child lock feature that can prevent the appliance from starting. Check if your dishwasher has this feature and make sure it's not activated.
- Error Codes: If your dishwasher has an error code display, note down the specific error code that corresponds to the flashing lights. Look up the error code in your manual or online to understand what the issue might be.
- Professional Service: If none of the above steps resolve the issue and your dishwasher is still not responding, it's advisable to contact Hoover customer support or a professional appliance technician for further assistance. They can diagnose and repair any more complex issues that might be affecting your dishwasher.
Remember to always prioritize safety when working with electrical appliances. If you're unsure about any step, it's best to seek professional help.
