I Have sound but no video

if its underwarranty i suggest get it replaced. NOW , there can be two problems that can be considered faulty in this issue .one is very simple ,just remove all the external cables/wires connected to the PVS also unplug it from main power outlet for particular minute of time say 5 minutes.then connect evrything back as it was.then check out .if the problem gets solved and the picture comes on the screen then its due to loose wire.so not to worry.BUT if the problem remains same then its due to the another option is  the backlight is dead.if it turns on for a second and then off, it may be because it's overheating for some reason and a thermal protection turns it off so it does not burn.in your case what happened -------- the supply to the backlight goes thru a small transformer like coil, which gets hot while playing, what has happened is that u might have played it for a long period of time by which the insulation coating on the winding has melted resulting in the wires of the coil getting shot and thus the lights not glowing .so its necessary to get the back light replaced but its a tough job and i suggest you to get it done by local repair center technician.and finally yes its wotrth getting it repaired.many a times if you are playing the movie on the battery connection, the battery is not completely charged or the battery is drained so this happens. please do rate the solution. thank you. keep updated.

No disc message

If this happens on every disc then it is likely a dirty lens/laser. This can normally be fixed by running a good quality dvd cleaner. Hope this helps.

No power

I have a friend that had the same problem, I opened the machine and found that the fuse had blown. Took a small piece of wire and just touched it, very brief, and every thing came on, just breifly to test, not prolonged because you don't the rated fuse for that part, I now know what is the problem, I just have to get the fuse and souder it in.

All of a sudden quit working

most portable dvd players arent meant to stay plugged in for long periods of time because they overcharge the batteries or cause damage to the players power supply regardless of how expensive they are .

However you can get a dvd player unit that is mounted in an overhead console (from a car stereo outlet that will last go to this site to see examples: www.mobilevideo4less.com/suv-systems.html - 40k
