Protron PDV-288 7" LCD Portable DVD Player - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

The battery is defective. I could not find a replacement battery online. The player is less expensive than the cost to repair unless it is covered under warranty. IN future, donot allow the battery to fully discharge. It will shorten its life or end it completely!

The problem is withthe delicate electrical connections to the LCD screen. You may try twisting the screen using VERY light force to see if that will make the balcnk section workj again. Failing thta, the DVD player is too inexpensive to have repaired, if that service is even available. A new one would be in order.

The screen's backlight function is not working. The player is inexpensive and not worth the cost of repair. Sorry.

Use some Scotch tape I guess, so you can open it again?

Get a voltmeter and measure the voltage output of the charger. It should be 19 volts. If there is voltage then the problem is the battery, or the connection inside the laptop.

Hello Javargas - Your unit will work fine with any generic 12V DC 3 AMP AC adapter. It's probably marked somewhere on the back of the unit (at least the 12V part).

If you have trouble finding one with 3 AMPs you can buy universal ones that will dial up automatically the voltage/amps the unit needs.

The generic kind can be had for about $20 (USD) while the second kind usually sells for around $35-40.

take the old battery out and put the numbers on the it into google search, also check ebay.

The battery in max and fully charge.IT should last u about 2 1/2 hours.

should be a 1-800 # somewhere on the unit u can call and have them send u a manuel, if not look it up on ebay or google the name of the portable dvd plaer to see if u can find a dealer near you, jason
