nahh you cant over chargee silly;; when its done, its done, it just doesnt loose battery power. and im not positive about the light.. but i would most likely assume that when the green light is on, that means its charging.. thats how pretty much every electronic works.. light on-charging; light off-no charge. sometimes it varies by different color lights.

thanks ! hope i was helpful.

There must be something wrong with the amount of power the power supply is providing. I would try and purchase another power supply, and see if it still happens. Another thing it could be is the port where you plug in the power cord, is the port loose or can you move it? If this is the case, it might not be receiving clean power.

No, I wouldn't say it's worth fixing, as the panel could have a burnt out backlight, or even circuitry issues. This could cost around 100-150 bucks to fix, or you can buy a new one for around 80. So, I would say, just buy a new one.

I have the same exact problem with my DVD player. I might just end up getting a new battery if anything.

Some sets, including this series, have a propensity for not being able to play DVD+R discs due to the colorization of the layers. Sorry...accordianman

Very possibley time for an upgrade to a new player, as repair rates could very well negate any viable return on this unit...accordianman

I would try Radio Shack.

Did this adapter have a big "brick" like a laptop power supply? If it did, and you strike out at Radio Shack I would call or visit a few used computer suppliers to see if you get lucky and find a 12 volt adapter that will work.

Good luck.

The 4:3 is an aspect ratio the ratio of horizontal to vertical size and the non-HDTV standard; the latter is 16:9.
The PAL and NTSC abbreviations refer to the picture and synchronization standards whereby NTSC is the American standard and the PALs are European. The setting "sp-raw" refers to an unprocessed video format that requires further processing before it can be viewed.
If the disk you have was made for the American market, you should be set to NTSC and the aspect ratio to whatever the disk is specified, most recent disks will be made to conform to HD specifications, but may also  be viewed in "letterbox" form which is a shrunken 16:9 box with pronounced edges around it.

I have a manual, try going into Setup mode then go to Custom Setup. In the drop down box, go to Default and by selecting this your player should default to factory default settings. The password then is set to factory default "8888". Under the Parental Control section of the Custom Setup Menu, you may try selecting bullet "8" also. Hope this helps.

Don't believe that a charger will help the "blue screen of death". It sounds like you may have either a bad optical assembly, or a defective screen cable...accordianman
