Is anything happening when you turn the switch off and on again?

If not you may be hanging on the BIOS somewhere.

Been "fiddling" around?

Run a good antivirus software, clean out junk files and cache files, make sure you have enough RAM 2GB minimum and more will be faster, check that your hard drive is healthy and not failing which will slow a laptop.
If none of these things helps, save your personal files to a thumb drive and reinstall a clean load of Win10.

awwww maaaaaaan never use that thing! It is nothing but trouble. If you need to reset your G4 get a repair/reinstall disk or flashdrive off eBay. Sets it up brand new for less then $15 if you look hard enough. Many uses too.

1. Download and Install Program on An Accessible Computer
Due to you're locked out of Windows, so, you need to download Windows Password Recovery tool and install it on a Windows or Mac computer to create a Windows password reset disk. There is a built-in installation guide from the program, so it's kind of easy to install it. Right-click desktop shortcut and run it as administrator
2. Make a Bootable Password Reset Disk (Take USB for Example)
A password reset disk is the tool we are going to use to reset the password of Windows computer. You have two options to create: one is by using USD drive and the other is with CD/DVD. USB driver is recommended in here because some of the modern computers don't have a stock DVD drive.
Insert your USB flash to computer and then select the USB drive from the drop-down list, make sure you've correctly selected the target USB driver, then click "Burn USB " to start to the burn the ISO images to your USB. It may takes a few minutes
3. Insert the USB Driver to Your HP Computer and Boot HP Computer from USB
Insert the USB reset disk to the computer which password is locked currently. In order to let this password recovery tool work, you have to change boot order in the BIOS setup and make USB as the first bootable device on that locked computer (HP).
Boot your computer and enter into BIOS settings by typing certain keyboard. This process is different from computer brands.
For HP laptop computer. Restart your HP computer and press ESC key to enter into startup menu when the computer starts. Then press F9 key to enter "Boot Device Options" and select Boot Manager. All the booting options will be displayed on that window. Then select USB hard rive as the first boot option by using up or down arrow key. Press Enter key to save the option. Or you can see HP support to set boot order.
4. Select Target Admin Account and Reset Password
Restart the locked computer(HP) and at this time Windows password reset tool will take into effect. Here is the screen after boot up. Select a Windows system from the upper section and choose a user account in next. In default, admin account is selected. Click "Reset Password" button, then a small window pops up to ask you if you want to reset the password of selected user. Click "Yes" to reset the password to blank.

HP uses the error 3f0 to indicate a problem with the Optane memory (Intel Rapid Storage) or hard drive. It could be an issue with the Boot configuration, missing or damaged system files on the drive or the boot record or Optane memory. You should test the hard drive with the HP Diagnostics test. Make sure that Legacy Boot support is disabled. Then in the BIOS tools, see if the BIOS sees the Optane memory. For desktops, see https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06101701 .

For a laptop, make sure that the drive cables (power and data) are fully seated. (Use appropriate tools to stay grounded relative to the system and look for the Maintenance and Service manual for your model.) See https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443463 for the full set of steps.

Note: accessing these tools before Windows boots can be difficult. I usually hit the appropriate function key multiple times starting immediately after turning on the computer. It can be hard to get the timing from a Restart on Windows 10 when fast boot is enabled.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(The solution might require replacing the hard drive and then restoring files from a good backup. I hope you have backups of your data.)

If this issue started with a motherboard error that appeared to be a faulty CMOS battery and then it started incorrectly detecting your memory and now is asking for a password it could be a faulty motherboard. If you are 110% you or anyone else has set a password on that laptop then I would say your motherboard needs to be replaced. It is a difficult process to reset admin passwords on most laptops due to a security chip that will prevent the trick of removing the battery from working. In all honestly if no one has set a password and the motherboard THINKS someone has then even if you reset the password you will still have issues. There is a small chance your CPU or RAM could be defective. But, again going back to it saying you have a password set that was never set. It just yells faulty motherboard unless someone has set a password without you knowing.

If you've got working Wi-Fi but your wired ethernet connection is not working, the first thing to do is turn off the Wi-Fi. Believe it or not, this might tell you that the ethernet is working. ... Right-click on the icon, go to Open Network and Internet Settings, then the Wi-Fi tab, and toggle off.

This Error 1702 problem can occur if all the following conditions are true:
  • You originally installed Office from a network administrative installation.
  • The network administrative installation is no longer available to you.
  • You are trying to use an Office CD-ROM when you are prompted by the Windows Installer for an Office source location.
  • You click Cancel when you are prompted to insert the CD.
Because the files in an administrative installation are uncompressed, and the files on an Office CD-ROM are compressed, the Windows Installer cannot resolve the differences between the two source types. The resolution to this problem depends on whether you can obtain access to a network administrative installation. Use the following methods, as appropriate to your situation.

If the original administrative installation from which you installed Office is not available, you can use a different administrative installation for the Office source file location. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type a command line similar to the following, and then click
    OK new network path\Setup.exe /fvm package name.msi
where new network path is the full path to the alternative network administrative installation, and
package name is the name of the Windows Installer .msi package on the root of this administrative installation (for example, Proplus.msi).
  3. Click OK when the update is finished.
