It should unscrew in the opposite direction that the blade turns. Check the blade direction by momentarily spinning the motor with it's own power (don't touch it!). Once you know which direction it goes, unplug it and turn the blade in the opposite direction to remove.

Wear leather gloves or double rubber gloves. Hold on right on top of the sharp blades and turn it. You can also bend a 1/8 th inch diameter thick wire, galvanized or anything metal and insert both ends on the holes on the blades and turn it. Make sure you don't slip your hands on the sharp blades.

a Crescent Wrench is a type of wrench that you can adjust the size of by spinning a screw beneath the mouth of the wrench. You can buy one at any hardware store including Home Depot, Lowes etc.

I bought the juicer at a second-hand store in brand new condition however the crescent tool was missing. To remove the flat blade for cleaning, I use a pair of scissors spread far enough to fit the ends in both holes. Hold the basket still while turning the scissors counter-clockwise untill the flat blade detaches. Easy as that! I ordered the tool, but it hasn't arrived yet. Hope this helps!

The stainless bar should be on the correct slots on top of the juicer. It has a safety switch on those bars. Smell the motor from under the juicer, it should not smell like burnt. Press hard on the switch, it might be loose.

Make sure the orange blade is properly seated and screwed in place. Don't screw it too tight though. If it still touches the top cover, sand it off or file it off. Whatever the blade touches the white portion of the cover, file it off.

The plastic top doesn't come off. Together, it's just a piece that you use to push the fruit down into the chute.

I'd take it back. The blade should turn, and the blade is screwed into place. Check that first.
