T.v. turns off by itself.

had a very similar situation with my Phillips 42 in. LCD TV.

Here was my Problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened it up( Warranty was Expired) and found several faulty capacitors on the PSB. Its pretty common. Major Electronic companies were sold faulty capacitors that fail in 2-5 years instead of 10-20 due to a lack of preservatives. It wouldn't surprise me if you have the same problem. TV will work fine for a few years and then just fail completely or slowly deteriorate.

Here are the solutions
1. Have it Repaired
2. Check for faulty caps and if you find some(budged or leaking) you know you have located a problem
Remove the board and replace the whole thing.
3. If you have some soldering skills you can replace the faulty caps.
Caps are very inexpensive, under a dollar in most cases. I replaced 4 for about $5.00

Hope this Helps.
Good Luck

L have an olevia flat screen tv that turns off on

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

HDMI works but AV1,AV2 SVideo 1&2 don't work.

If the factory defaults reset through the main menu does not help then it's probably an electrical prblem on the main board.

This usually happens due to a power surge through a cable connected to one of the said inputs.

Most technicians would replace the main board itself.

We are from the vanishing breed that would often try and do component level repair.

Truth is it ends up costing about the same amount to the customer...and in regards to this particular problem a new board is actually better.

I lost the audio for the Olevia 37" HDLCD

Hello.
Me name is Russ and I will try to help you.
We need to eliminate possible cable box issue first. Easiest way to do it - get DVD player (hopefully you have one), connect it to your TV using different cables (don't use cables that you are using with cable box right now) and check if sound will be there while you are running movie on DVD player.
If sound is OK - you have issue with cable box. You can try to reset it by unplugging it from wall outlet and connecting it back in couple of minutes.
If there is still no sound - check the "mute" button on TV's remote control (not cable box remote control). If you will not be able to locate such a button than push "menu" button on TV remote control, go to "Audio" and make sure "mute" is "off".
If all of this does not help - you have audio amplifier section of main board inside of your TV bad and whole main board have to be replaced.
Regards.
Russ.

THERE ARE 3 WIRES YELLOW,WHITE, AND RED WHICH WIRE

OK, what you have is the Composite Video cable (Yellow RCA plug) and the Audio cable for Right (Red RCA plug)) and Left (White RCA plug) audio channels. You just have to look at the back of the DVD and locate the Composite VIDEO output jack and Audio output jacks, just match the colors. Sma thing on the TV, just look for either AV1 or 2 Composite Video input jack and audio input jacks.
Set the TV to select the video source you have the cable plugged into, and that is.

I had this problem with my olevia and computer. When the computer starts up hit F4 or whatever the boot menu button is. Then in the boot menu find an option that will start the computer in low res. Then when started go to the display settings and change them to 60 hz and 1280 X 768 anything higher than 768 will cause the invalid format message on the tv.

When i turn on the

You will need to start from the main power supply section to see if the power works. Please check this link for tips on SMPS

You will need to remove the panel to determine the voltage that comes to feed the main board. check the +B , if the voltage dies off, if so check for short in the circuit. Possible drivers being short can also be the reason. Remove off the leads to the output and check if the voltage builds up to confirm.

I have a polaroid hdtv

Maybe-
There are two cheap possibilities; a blown fuse and/or a blown thermistor. The latter are used to limit inrush current to the power supply by having a higher resistance when cold and a lower resistance when warm. They start out at under 10 Ohms and decease to values sometimes lower than 1 Ohm and produce kind of a 'soft-start' which avoids damaging certain parts in the front end of the power supply. They will often fail when hit with a heavy surge although they are not fuses by design.
If you remove the back panel of your set after leaving it unplugged for a few hours, look for a smaller board with larger parts on it that seems related to the AC cord and attaches to other sub-assemblies with multiple connector-equipped wires. This will be the power supply. Inspect it for any signs of burned areas and also for any fuse you can recognize. If you see a pair of dirty looking wires sticking up out of the board, this is likely the remains of a thermistor. If intact, it will have a disk between the wires.
You may be able to buy a replacement board from Polaroid or here:
Jimmy's parts
Good luck-

Television will not come on, blue light stays lit

jtoddweaver, Check out some YOUTUBE videos of lcd monitor disassembly and lcd monitor repair so you will know what you are looking for that is bad on your unit's "switch-mode-power-supply" printed circuit board. If you do the repair to the board, please document your "tear-down" with video or digital still pictures so you can complain to OLEVIA about poor quality capacitors they installed on power supply and also aid in the reassembly process. Do some reading in the fixya profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" and follow links you find there. Bye for now 12fixlouie
