Check the computer for firewall and antivirus and make sure they are not blocking it.

You have to first go online and search Magellan Contact Manager to download that software to manage your device. Once that is done, you connect your device and register it. Then on the menu choose Help and "check for updates". There will be a scan and the available updates for software, maps etc will show, as will their cost if any.

I'm sorry but like a lot of older equipment there is no Windows 7 Driver available for your Magellan Roadmate 800.

The only solution to this problem is to install a version of XP on your computer and set up a dual boot system so you can select which operating system you want to run.

its probably not the battery, even though most self proclaimed experts on here will tell you that...dont buy anything until you verify whether its the battery or the power port...could even be a problem on the board.

plug it in to a know good charger for a few hours, then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds...if it fails to start, its probably the power port...a new battery will probably get it started, but youll have the same problem once it dies.

make sure the battery is charged up good, then take it outside and turn it on and leave it in clear view of the open sky for up to 30 minutes to acquire the satellites especially if its been reset.

if that fails, reset the unit...turn it on, then slide the reset switch on the top of your 800 to the opposite position and once it turns off, slide the reset back to the normal position and turn it on again and take it back outside and let it in clear view of the open sky for up to 30 minutes.

if that fails..go HERE and get the update for which ever 800 model you have...you will have to sign on to the Magellan site before you can download anything.

I am looking for the same thing. Were you ever able to find the unlock code? Magellan said they can no longer give it to me

there are two pieces to the mount, the mount and the cradle..the cradle snaps on the gps and the mount slides in the groves on the back of the cradle.

to attach it to the window, lift the lever near the suction cup on the bottom of the mount..press firmly against the window, the push lever down toward the windshield to lock it.

you should remove it and reattach it every few weeks to prevent it from falling off the window and damaging the unit.

This is very common problem with this and many model of magellans.

Try the car charger.

Make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

The following Magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 3000, 3050, 4000, 4040, 4050, 5310 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your Magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

if its freezing on the magellan screen, there is a special utility from magellan to fix this issue. fortunately i havent had to use it yet so use caution while installing.

theres no specific driver for your device or vista as long as your running xp sp2 or higher, your device drive installs automaticlly. if it doesnt, there could be a few reasons why.

make sure the battery is fully charged and using a known good usb cable and assuming there is no problems with the gps (like its been formated) turn the 6000t on. (do not connect the usb cable yet)

(for people that bought one of these and cant start it, you must hold the power button for about 15 seconds)

once you enter the agreement page click ok, then connect your 6000t to your pc and wait until
it tells you, your devise is not installed.

there is a firmware update (2.12) for your 800, you can download it HERE then just follow the directions to update your unit...the link above it for the 800 north american version, so if you have the Europe version, just got to the support page and select your unit.

you must register your magellan on their website before they will let you download anything.

It is quite likely that any maps you obtain from others will not work in your GPS as maps are coded back to component parts in the unit ANTI PIRACY codes .Similar to MS serial numbers. It reads ID's and checks against those stored in map. The only option is to purchase new maps for the area you want.

there should be a small hole eather in the back or side of the unit to insert a tooth pick or something not share to reset the unit to factory defaults.
