The light on the base isn't working on my scanner
Hello Patty,
This is a fairly common problem with these little guys. First thing is to make sure the power plug is "all the way" into the base. Sometimes the base will have a little o-ring that will kind of pop the plug in. I've fallen victim to this many times.
If the power plug is in all the way, then the base is the culprit. Are you using a USB cable to connect the base to your PC?

How to replace battery in
Remove the rubber cap, there is two screws. Remove the screws. Pull off the little round sticker near the end of the handle, and remove the screw there. It will come apart. That battery is a barrel shaped device with a small connector on a circuit board.
Scanner works but shows
Please check if the settings of the scanner corresponds to your desktop keyboard layout. Usually is needed to set the scanner for the same keyboard layout that your desktop has.
Otherwise the keyboard differences will give you such missmatch.
Replaced battery - do I need to re-boot?
No you have to configure blutooth Adress, it's located on the bottem side of the scaner , scan that barcode and try to read, if it fall, get the user configuration gueid and enabel KBW OR USB ( first Chek Your communication method) if it's KBW trun to page 56 and scan Load keyboard Wedge Defaults , if it's usb trun to page 68 and scan enabel usb interface. if agein fall, scan the recall deafult and do the above steps.

Default Barcode as the one used in the manual
I don't have a manual with me tonight .. but I think its a code 3 of 9 with a twist. If the codes in your manual only have 2 barwidths (narrow and wide) my memory is correct. If there are more than 2 barwidths its c128.
A standard c3 of 9 barcode has a start-stop pattern that decodes into an '*'
When '12345 is rendered into a C3of9 barcode the code actually holds *12345*
Barcode readers spot the code by looking for the *. Metrologic's codes are using a different start stop pattern. Again if memory services me they use a '#' so this makes the code "unreadable" by all but a verifier. It also means that most barcode production programs can't print it ...becuase they impose the standard for start/stop patterns.
The easy way to create one of those cards (for Metrologic) is to forget all the yadda I'm giving you. Instead figure out which pages you need . Next copy the pages of barcodes you used to get the setup correct. Then do a cut and paste job onto a blank page of paper. It goes quite quickly and the barcodes copy well.
If none of that helps then PCscan a page of codes in your manual and email the image to me. My eyeballs are (sadly) calibrated to read barcodes and I can quickly tell you what you've got.
