You do not need to set the time directly on the unit - just set GMT to correspond to be correct for UK - its somewhere in the settings - Hope this helps

520 will only go to 4 digits. You have to put it the first 4 digits, and then select the street, and then the number

It will take ages to find a signal the first time it tried. Once locked on it should pick up the sats really quickly the next time you turn on the device.

If you turn it off completely (battery switch to off) then it will take ages again the next time it is turned on.

Have you tried the reset hole? make sure there is nothing stuck in there that could be pressing on the button. When you press and hold the reset button the screen stays blank.

If you press the reset button does the unit turn on? Mine turns on when I press the reset button even after I turn the battery off then back on.

This sounds like you have an issue with the software install on the device.

Have you tried to unlock the device before, and this has gone wrong?

Does the device connect to a PC via active sync? if so can you browse to the \my flash disk folder?

If you can use active sync then there is a good chance that you can salvage your device. :)

I had this problem when I completely deleted the Backup folder from \My Flash Disk.

Restoring the backup folder allowed the 520 to operate properly again.

It is possible that you have a corrupted APPStartupSec.exe application. Without this file working it appears that the NAVMAN waits in USB mode for ever!

Contact (I believe its Garmin for that model). I think you will have to buy another copy of their software. If your maps are more than a year old, they are due for an update anyways.

The CD is not available for download from Navman it seems, but you can get it at thepiratebay.com. Just search for 'navman icn' and you'll find what you need, I just did. Better learn how to download torrents though! :)

There are two possibilities:

1) it is a software problem, in this case you can solve it downloading and installing a firmware update. You can download latest software from here.
This is most likely situation.


2) If the above did not work it means that you have an hardware problem, probably the touchscreen is slightly faulty, or the lcd ribbon cable is not well connected. In this case I suggest to take the navman to service.

Well I have done it with my magnifying glass dentists pick & my fine nosed wire cutting tweaser, and time... But more often it is easier to Disassemble the units & simply unsolder the Female Socket from the Board and replace with a new one, then ya can buy the connectors as a pair.. ensuring proper fit.

It sound like low battery or a software "glitch" Either removing the batteries and waiting a minute before reinstalling them will reboot the software. If not, replacing the batteries should work.

hello peter To restore the device to factory default settings, go to Settings > Device > Restore factory defaults. Please note that you will lose all stored information on the unit including addresses (ex. MY Places, Recent Locations). you can aslo contact the customer care
