No maps found tomtom
So it told you no map was found when you enter an address? You can check with some other ways than entering the address such as name of building. If there is a problem loading the map, you will need to download a new map from their web site and update your map. If there is a problem connecting with the satellite you can try to start it a couple more times and see whether you get a better connetion with a new request.
I have the v1 model
I had the same problem after I upgraded to the latest software version from the website. I find that popping the SD card out and then back in gets the power to come on, but you have to do it every time. Working for now.
Also my Tom tom One version 1 (purchased in July 2007) has had the problem of going blank on three occasions now. Recharging in car or via the mains charger for several hours does not solve the problem. Holding down the switch firmly for brief or long periods achieves nothing. I recalled hearing that freezing (literally) some electronic equipment can solve such problems and had already successfully brought a digital alarm clock back to life by putting it in the freezer. So with my Tom tom out of guarantee I wrapped it in a couple of plastic bags and put it in the deep freeze compartment of a refrigerator over night. Next day took it out, allowed a couple of hours to thaw out and then recharged for an hour before switching on. Instant revival! I have now repeated this treatment on three occasions when the unit packed in and each time it has worked perfectly. Of course the Tom tom handbook warns that the unit must not be exposed to extremes of high or low temperature; but I assure you my treatment worked.
After trying this out if it does not work for you, Then you can place the complaing on the sites below for more help.

hello i suppose if you key in home would it not find the original owners home i would think so goodluck
How can i update new
You should have received a disc with your TomTom where you can install a program to your computer which gathers new up to date map information from the internet and then, after plugging the Tomtom into the computer and following steps to sync the unit, your GPS Receiver should be up to date with the latest maps.
In case you don't know where your CD is
Tomtom's website has the program available for download.
Good Luck, hope this helps.
My unit isn't coming on.
you have blown a micro chip that handles the voltage inside the tomtom and it will need replacing. You should find a electronics repair outlet to repair it as the chip is very very small and will need a very steady hand to replace it, it could even be two chips and maybe a diode or two that have gone
Tom tom one will not get gps signal
are you in an open area? sometimes service is spotty in the the city. if you in a heavily populated area try the device in the open if you have a chance.
The device shows same picture
I have had the same problem with my brand new TomTom One XL. It does seem to be related to the SD Card. My unit doesn't like the SD Card and wont boot up with it in (comes up with the red x error animation)...so like an idiot I ejected the SD Card while the unit was still switched on...then the trouble started with not booting...unless it was plugged into the mains.
All I did to fix it was unplug the TomTom from the mains (it was fully charged by the way), put the SD Card back into the slot, turned the TomTom on, waited to get the error message, then turned off the TomTom, then ejected the SD Card, and Hey Presto !! the unit turns back on again even if it is not plugged into the mains.
It worked for me, so hopefully may help others -->
Screen has frozen, can't turn it off or move
There are a few things you can try to resolve this:
- Hold down the power button for up to 15 seconds to reset the unit.
- If that doesn't work, you'll want to try changing the power connection to the unit. If you don't have it plugged in to the cradle or the usb cable, plug it in. If it is plugged in, try unplugging it.
In the event it stays frozen, eventually the battery will drain. When the screen goes blank, you can then plug the unit in and recharge it. Let it charge for at least 30 minutes and then try to power on the unit.
