Waiting for gps signal all
GPS satellites are constantly flying over the globe, they are not in a stationary orbit, you have to wait it out until your GPS recieves an incoming signal, it's not always going to be instantaneous..

you have to go into settings, and go to your time zone. It is showing anothers time zone. I do not know where you live of course, but just go to settings and go to time Zones, it will say pacific time zone, or central or something like that. Let me know if that solves it. Don't forget to rate this help if it does help. Thanks Mike

Says loooking for signal - even when plugged into
Being plug into a car charger (or wall charger) has little to do with not finding a GPS signal and this apply to your gps battery as long as you get power to your receiver.
It is not unusual for GPS to have problem finding suitable Satellites signals especially inside a building or areas where you do not have a clear view of the sky above you and the unit (e.g. High Rise buildings).
In order to speed up the location of satellites signals, you need to update your unit A-GPS Satellite locations database on a regular basis via 'Tom Tom Home' (which should be installed on your PC or Laptop). You can download the latest version of Tom Tom Home from the official site.
Without A-GPS and the unit not being in regular use, your unit may take a very long time to find suitable satellite signals. My own TomtOm One, without an up to date a-gps database has taken over 15 minutes to locate the required signals even in a relatively 'open' air location!
Hope it helps and clarify the issue.
Touch screen will not respond
I would try doing a reset on the unit before anything else.
Take your SD CARD out before doing this tho.
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. ushally located on the bottome of the unit.
then after rest try to see if your touch screen is now enabled
Give that a go and if nothing I will look into this issue more for you.
If you are happy and satisfied with this awnser please thumbs up or even better write a Testimonial.
When i try and type
You cannot calibrate the screen yourslef like in windows mobile. I would try to reset it back to factory defaults by hitting thesmall whole at the rear and retry. If the problem stays your device needs to be serviced
there is no work around. I opened several of these things
sorry

How to set time on
In the setting menu there is an option set date
The time is just after it
Cheers
Rene
How do i change the
To select the time format and to set the time, follow these steps:
- From the main menu, tap Change preferences.
- Tap Set clock.
- Select how the time should be displayed and then tap Next.
- The easiest way to set the time is by tapping the Sync button. Your navigation device will then take the time from GPS information.
Note: You can only use Sync if your device can receive a satellite signal, so you cannot set the clock in this way when you are indoors.
- After using Sync to set the time, you may have to adjust the hours depending on your time zone and the daylight-saving time.
I want to update my
go to there site and check for any updates if there there you probably pay for them and connect to pc and download to unit
if this helps you please leave me a good feedback thanks
Can you update a tomtom
depends what tom tom version you are using.
started by removing all of the MapShare changes from my device by changing the MapShare preferences. I then generated a route that would traverse the section of Interstate that is currently closed. With the MapShare changes not applied, I ended up with the following route, which is what I would have expected. Then I enabled the MapShare corrections and calculated the same route again:
So at least in this case it looks like the MapShare community has stepped up to the plate and made the necessary corrections.
Tomtom 4v00.910 won't turn on
The battery inside the tomtom is a lithium iron type. They generaly do not have any memory effect so you don't need to run them down as it serves no purpose. You can charge lithium iron whenever you want. Sometimes if a lithium iron battery drops below its absolutly flat voltage which is somewhere around 3.2 volts in a tomtom , it wont take a charge. This is because the charger has a protection circuit inside it that shuts it down if too much current is drawn. As such if the tomtom battery is really really flat then the charger will see it as a dead short and will shut itself off meaning that the battery wont charge at all. If you open up the tomtom , then using some wire off-cuts insert them into the batteries little plug holes. Connect a 9v battery to those 2 bits of wires " THE RIGHT WAY ROUND " for about 10 seconds . The battery will then be shocked upwards in voltage. This might then be enough for the charger to see the tomtom battery at over the 3.2 volts. Hopefully the charger will then charge it. Be carefull with is 9v as its actually over-voltage and charging lithium iron batteries can be a bit dodgy if you do it for too long. Actually , using a bench power supply is a much safer idea and you can also limit the current too but if youre not technical and dont have the right kit , then its worth trying the 9v battery thing as last resort. hope this helps.
My Tomtom is stuck on
Press and hold the power button down until the unit turns off. it will eventually turn off and this will clear the last address on the display.
if I were you, I would connect it to my pc and update the maps when it comes back on.
Hello, the gps signal is
I am glad to HELP YOU!
I'd suggest you - first thing first - to make sure your TomTom device is getting the proper signal. Maybe in the area where you've tested it are too many tall buildings or too strong magnetic fields. So I'd say to get your device in a park or even outside the city/town limits and to retry to acquire the satellites signal.
If you will have the same result that will lead to the opinion that the GPS receiver itself it's damaged and must be replaced.
If your device is still under a warranty terms & conditions - then take it back to the dealer and ask for a total replacement or for a total refund. DON'T TRY TO FIX BY YOURSELF THE GPS RECEIVER! It's too fragile and maybe you will end up with a useless device...!
Anyway - before any attempt make sure your TomTom battery IS FULLY CHARGED!
My best regards!
