What you need to do is to call the customer support line from this new company and have them walk you through the process. What the terminal needs is a new load of software. They can walk you through that process and help you if there are any problems with it.

Depending if your terminal is on the IDLE PROMPT SCREEN or the VMAC SCREEN... you would select SETTLE on your terminal. If there is a password it should 1 alpha alpha 66831 (default pwd by Verifone). Then proceed with confirming the totals on the screen by pressing the GREEN "Enter" KEY

Your shop has optical phone lines? lol I never heard of such a thing and I used to work for MCI worldcom.
All you need to do is call up Qwest or your local phone provider and have them put in a standard analogue phone or fax line.
Here it would run you about 20 bucks if you dont get it as a business line. maybe 50 if you tell them it is for a business.

More than likely the password is your Merchant ID # if not more than likely is you would have to purchase a new one, mainly because most of the machines have been updated by frimware or baud rate which may prevent normal usage to credit card companies.

Hi cbeyer286,

First off.. please make sure you post your questions to the proper forum for your model terminal - your question will receive an answer much more quickly. :)

These machines aren't like a laptop where you can reload the OS onto them if they get messed up. The base software is loaded on ROM internally, so you can always wipe the terminal and start from scratch. Companies (like yours) can then build application specific files to load into them.

Here is the standard way of accessing the programming-level menu which will allow you to wipe the memory and enter the proper download parameters for the file you want to load.

  1. Press the F2 and F4 keys at the same time.
  2. You will see a prompt for "system password"
  3. Press: 1,alpha, alpha, 6, 6, 8, 3, 1, Enter
This will bring you to the system menu. From here you can scroll down to System Menu Screen #2 where you can Clear RAM and flash the RAM files. From there your company can treat the terminal as a blank slate ready to program.

Good Luck!

What is the model of your credit card unit first. Each one has different features or different ways of VOIDING sales.

VeriFone TRANZ... | Answered on Jul 14, 2009

That is called a pre-print and your processor can modify the location of that feature within your file.
If you hit function and 7 it should ask you RECALL? Then your processor or merchant account provider would let you know what location that feature is to turn off. If you were processing with me and my company I could let you know in 2 seconds. But unfortunately each of locations means something else to each processor and me telling you could turn on or off something totally different.
