hi, just found this forum after searching the web 4 a solution to my hotpoint DWF50 problem.
I came down this morning to a machine which base tray was full of water and lights 3 ECO & 4 Fast flashing.
Anyway my solution was as i had seen a hotpoint engineer do once before was to press the start/reset button trip the catch, to fool the machine into thinking the door is closed then put in a program, press start, the machine hums slightly but doesnt do anything then after removing the large filter from the tray at the bottom underneath the lower basket insert a length of wire, with a loop on the end (Tip i used a wire coat hanger from the dry cleaners) poke in ythe hole that the dirty water drains from, after a bit of poking about the pump started working and the water drained away. Tip place a hook at the other end of your wire impliment to put your finger in to stop the wire getting caught in the pump mechanisim. After wards u have to hook back the door catch to the normal position, Tip another piece of the coat hanger with a right angled piece at the end will do this. This worked for me, saved me some money esp as D & G insurance ran out 2 weeks ago.....stu

I have a similar machine, so if you are trying to remove the upper spray arm, that one is bolted in, if you wish to remove the lower one, you simply pull up as you turn the arm to the left, (counter clockwise). It will remove, then simply replace by placing it back in place and rotate to the right, (clockwise)
Hope this answers your query, Please rate and comment, Thank You Joe

Thanks for using FixYa. Switch off the dishwasher from the power socket and mains and replace all the cables and switch it on after five minutes. You can also reset the breaker. If still the issue is not resolved then press and hold the "On/Off" button and release the button after ten seconds. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Do you hear the motor run or is there deadly silence when you select drain.
Does the wash cycle start - do you hear water getting in and washer arms move?
Are there any lights flashing?

I Had this problem its to do with dry joints on the circuit board, solution, resolder all suspect bad joints even though they might look alright especially all those that have heavy electronics connected to the board that could get vibrated.

without the make and model number its hard to tell exactly what the fault is,
Generally this is caused by a siezed motor, could be something got into the impellar or worn out.
When you say trips out, do you mean electrics trip?
If so, you have probably had a leak in the base of the appliance and shorted the motor.

Hope this helps.
