Then press the channel up button until the tv turns off. You may press the button over 100 times. You need to go slow. When the TV turns off press the enter button (or select button).

Generally, the Tivo button is at the very top of the Remote, in the middle. It's the larger button that *isn't* round, but more of a square shape.

A similar problem happend to me. Buying a new remote fixed it - for about three weeks.

The problem is the DVR is only programmed using a set amount of codes. They don't update them. If your DVR is a few years older than your TV set, you're out of luck. .

You could contact DirectTV customer service and see if they have a solution in technical support for that tv. It's possible another set of manufacture codes will work with it and tech support has it noted.

I found these codes for this Akai (in which I'm totally dissapointed) and successfully programmed my DirectTV remote using 11675. Good Luck,
