Hello all Hey i have a set of compaq armadas

Hello there michael:This is a fairly easy computer to upgrade the memory on what you need to do is First unplug the computer and ensure it is off. now look at the keyboard and you will see 4 black tabs towards the top of the keyboard these are the release tabs for the keyboard get a small flattip screwdriver and insert it in the back of them and they will slide down towards the space bar to unlock. do this for eack of the tabs . now the keyboard will be able to lift out from the top and swing back towards youNow you can see the memory modules M700 Laptop takes the PC100 SDRAM SODIMMs. Memory Type, and comes installed with 32 MB or 64 MB (non-removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Armada M700 Laptop to up to a maximum of 544 MB or 576 MB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 32 MB or 64 MB (non-removable) standard Memory installed. ok Then insert the ram nad replace the keyboards and slide the tabs back in place and you are done just start up the computer and you will get a memory notification press f0 to accept and the system will start ok Hope this helps best regards Mike

I am interested in replaceing

Before this is done please take an opinion to confirm the motherboard and most important the cost of a new board. When a lot of money is invested specially on an older set please see that newer technology comes cheaper and if there in an option to swap with a bargain for spares , go for it.

Where do you find the

You can find it by downloading a small utility called CPU-Z by clicking here.
Just check the motherboard tab.

If the PC is not functioning the model number is usually printed near the IDE slots

Disable onboard graphics of my PCChips M825LU motherboard?

Hi,

Yes its a BIOS setting that you have to change. Usually you change from on-board to AGP settings or plug the graphics card in, take out the motherboard battery and the power cord from the back, leave it for 20 minutes and put them all back again.

This will reset the BIOS and should auto detect the AGP graphics card. You will however need to set the date and time but you can do that from Windows.

Regards.

There is no beep sound no display

Try to reseat or replug first your memory. Or clean its connecting terminal with a soft gel eraser, both side. But do this when unit is off and unplugged to wall socket.

Some motherboard do not send beep sound when memory is at fault, and also no monitor display. Usually no boot up. But CPU processor fan and hard disk LED is turn on or running.

If reseating and cleaning doesn't help try to swap another good memory card with same size for sure. Other than that suspect other component. Second in line is video problem and some other component.

Oc a nvidia geforce 5700 ultra need info

Hey,

Do you want to overclock the 5700 ultra? Its a old card and the performance wont get much better, instead I would suggest upgrading the video card to a newer one or the whole computer.

The nvidia 7xxx series fits into a AGP slot I would recommend that, its alot better but upgrading the computer would be even better.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

No display

Are you using the onboard display or an extension slot and card? Gigabite has the ability to turn off and on both the AGP or PCIeX16 slot and the onboard video in the bios. (Noting: some 945 variations have onboard video and some don't, some later versions of the 945 have PCIe X16 slots, some older versions have AGP X8 slots) Check to make sure your bios doesn't have these turned off for what ever you're using.
