Your modem setting probably is not compabile with the data rate your phone will support.

From the user manual --

If you are having difficulty sending or
receiving a fax due to possible interference
on the phone line, we recommend that you
adjust the compatibility setting to reduce the
modem speed for fax operation

Press a or b to choose Basic or
Normal (or High).
Basic cuts the modem speed to
9600 bps. Unless interference is a
recurring problem on your phone
line, you may prefer to use it only
when needed.
Normal sets the modem speed at
14400 bps.
High sets the modem speed at
33600 bps.
Press OK.
Press Stop/Exit.

The other thing to consider is do you have tone or pulse dial service from your telephone company?

The machine is set to Distinctive Ring mode.
Turning off Distinctive Ring

Press Menu, 2, 0, 2
Press a or b to select Off. Press OK
Press Stop/Exit.

The first of those documents is probably corrupted and causing the printer to stop working. Delete all jobs from the queue, turn the printer off, then back on again and try a different document. If it works, then the document is corrupted and you need to try saving it in a different format before printing it again.

The unit "saves" all the images that it has scanned, so that you can "re-FAX" pages. It's run out of space to hold any more images. Use the controls on the unit to "delete" or "purge" old FAXes (both "received" and "sent").

There are replacement parts available here and here. The first website has both hinges as well as pictures to match up the one that you need.

You might need to clean the corona wire. Pull out the drum and cartridge and slide the blue tab on top back and forth. Be sure to return the tab to the home position afterward.

There are a few things you can do to troubleshoot this problem.

1. Be sure you are using new, clean paper
2. Clean the copier's paper rollers, the marks may result from a dirty roller mechanism.
3. Clean the copier bed's glass plate, smudges manifest themselves in the final copies.
4. Clear any excess toner that has spilled in the toner cartridge chamber. Remove the cartridge, set it aside, then clean the compartment.
5. Check for low toner levels. Low toner levels can actually contribute to unsightly lines and blotches on a photocopy

If all else fails, try turning down the darkness of the copies in the settings, this can occasionally lead to lines and marks.

2.- Press the up or down arrow keys to select " Machine Info "
3.- Press Ok
4.- Press the up or down arrow key to select " Reset Menu "
5.- Press Ok
6.- Press the Up or Down key to select " Drum "
7.- Press Ok
8.- Press 1 to reset the drum unit counter

It sounds like you need to remove the toner cartridge and check for half broken pages below the toner. Some of the parts inside will be hot to the touch so take caution when attempting to remove the pages while the system is still hot.

First ensure that the paper source is set to the correct tray, or you will get no paper. Try verifying or changing tray settings, this are available in Control Panel>Printers>Printer properties.

If that is not the problem, and No Paper is prompted with any document getting printed, then there is a problem with one of the paper sensors. This machine has three paper sensors. If problem is when feeding paper, then it is one of the paper sensors in the tray. If problem is sensor, the problem will only affect one tray, test using a different tray.

Ensure that there is no fragment of paper or foreign object inside the machine, particularly at the end of paper tray or in the paper feeding unit. That can also cause the No Paper problem.

Ensure that paper is well fitted in tray and that tray is properly closing.

Once you are sure that problem is none of the above and that there is a fault. In that case problem can be feed roller, paper pickup mechanism, paper sensors, or main pcb. Here the full service manual.

To reset the drum counter, follow the instructions below:

1. Open the front cover.
2. Press the Clear/Back key.
3. Press 1 to reset.
4. Close the front cover, pressing firmly on each side until they click into place.
