Hi christine66752,
If you are unable to print and getting thie error 51 this means that something is in the paper system. There is a paper jam or a mechanical problem with the printer. First thing to do is to check that printer is clear from any paper jam. If there is none, then check for mechanical problem with the paper system. Before checking kindly try the procedure below first in resetting the purge counter:
1. Turn the machine off.
2. Then, turn on the machine while holding down the "menu"button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in "maintenance" mode.
3. Press 80
4. Afterwards, press the "mono start" button several times until you see "purge: xxxx"
5. Press "2783" in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: "purge:0000"
6. You have to press the "stop" button.
7. Lastly, press "99" to exit the maintenance mode.
If still nothing happens then, you have to check the end gear of the roller charge paper in your machine. Some times when the paper gets jam, the first reaction is to pull over the paper, it causes the end gear gets out from its position and the printer can`t load the paper. It causes the error 51 in the printer. To solve this problem you need to attach the gear to its position, to do this is necesary to disassemble the printer.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
No Cartridges. Open Scanner
Hi there,
No Cartridge will show on the display if the machine cannot recognize one of the cartridge or one of the ink is empty.
To make sure about the real issue unplug the mach from the power outlet then plug it back in after 10 seconds.
If the display show:
"ink empty C" it means the cyan/blue needs to be replace.
"ink empty M" it means the magenta/pink needs to be replace.
"ink empty BK" it means that the black needs to replace. If the display shows
"ink empty Y" it means that yellow needs to be replace.
Even if it looks like the cartridge is full, it really needs to be replace so that the machine will work again.
Hope this helps. Rate if it works. Thanks

My brother dcp145c will not
It wants you to refer to the users guide, it even gives the chapter which is excellent. Go to the Brother website and downlaod the manual for this printer. Or you may have one in your possession already, it would have come with your printer.
It most likely want you to replace the waste ink sponges or reinstall the ink cartridges.
Don't worry though it will all be explained in the manual.
Till next time!
Take care!
