F10 indicates the pressure switch isn't sensing a change in the water level.

Unplug the appliance and take the top off.

The pressure switch should be on the left near the top.

Take the thin tube attached to it off.

Blow as hard as you can down the tube for as long as you can.

Give the pressure switch a couple of good taps with your screwdriver handle.

Refit the tube and try the machine again.

Ensure the wiring and plug to the pressure switch are good.

If your hotpoint washing machine is not working and you feel it needs repairs and you are getting the E10 or F10 error code, this means there is NO cold fill and you should check and verify that the taps are on and that the hoses are not kinked.

The first thing to check is the taps, most machines will have the hot and cold fill supply plumbed via a hot and cold inlet valve placed under a sink or directly behind the machine, it is usually a silver valve with the Blue and some times a red flexible hose connected to it, the blue should be cold and if there is a red that will be the hot supply.

In the on position, the plastic switch located on the side of the in let vale should be pointed in the same direction as the arrow on the valve and in the off position it should be pointed across the valve, if it looks off, especially if your valve is under a sink where pots, pans, boxes and other item can get pushed up against it and could turn it off by accident, simply turn it back on, but do not force it, as forcing it could break it, and that could lead to a flood situation.

If the valves looks OK, but the washing machine is still not working and you still get the E10 or F10 error message, you now need to check for a kinks in the pipes, this will probably mean pulling the washing machine out from its housing to continue the repair.

At this stage you need to take in to consideration the fact that the washing machine will be heavy and connected to both the mains electrics and mains water supply and also that putting the machine back properly can often be harder than taking it out.

If you are unsure, you would be best advised to call a engineer, if you are not willing to pull the washing machine out you could still also check any part of the inlet flexible hose pipes that you can easily see, like in the cupboards and also to the side of the washer, if you see any kinks, you could try to remove the kink and test the machine again.

Error codes are usually machine specific and the diagnosis given here is for the hotpoint unit only, do not relate this diagnosis or error code meanings to any other make of washing machine

The "F05" error code is indicating a Water Temperature Sensor Error. Does it take long time for the water to get hot when you initially start it? If the water is cold entering the tub when hot water or warm water is selected it possibly could cause the error. It only makes sense because after you cancel the cycle and restart the washer it does OK because the cold water has been purged.

There is a thermistor located on the heating element mounting bracket which is used to monitor the water temperature. The heating element w/thermistor will be located on the lower back portion of the tub. You might find a loose wire connection on the thermistor. You will need to remove the rear panel to access the heater and thermistor. You will need an ohm meter to measure the resistance of the thermistor. See images below for specifications.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord before removing the rear panel.

If during the water heating step in the wash cycle, the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range, the "F/05" error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes:

Check the Water Temperature Sensor

Check connections to the Water Temperature Sensor

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

My hotpoint is same you have to pull machine out then tip on side carefully then remove black sump pipe right by pump at Back machine clipped on so remove clip holing to drum and pump. Also the pressure sensor might be attached just unclip then clean filter out and put back clipping back on tight. Hotpoint have self cleaning pump on these models but has catch by pump that can get blocked only new models of hotpoint made this easier hope this helped :)

I have checked the Hotpoint web site, and a pcb is £114.00.
You also need the eprom which plugs into the pcb, this is another £24.00, and is unprogrammed, this means that it is a blank memory chip, and has to have the programmes put into memory.
This is something that only Hotpoint can do, so you have to add the cost of calling an enginner to the cost of the parts.
This as you can see, makes it very expensive to repair.
It would be in excess of £200.00.
There is one other alternative, and that is, if the washer is less than 5 years old, then you should be covered by the Hotpoint 5 year part guarantee, but you would have to confirm this with Hotpoint.
It would certainley be cheaper to do it this way.
Plz rate my solution.

Control board needs to be replaced. Many times the control boards go bad because of a spike in the electrical grid cause by a brown out, lightening strike or even a surge in the power. After the control board is replaced... I suggest using a surge protector on all of your electronic devices including the washing machine.

At rear of machine at the top, on both sides are small screws or bolts. Remove these and the top of the machine should slide back and remove.

1) test the belt broken or worn replace
2)door switch, test for open or defective
3)main control board or CCU, test for loose wires connector, if fail the CCU is faulty, replace
4) motor control board , is located near to the motor, receive information from CCU, tight all wires connector, for loose, otherwise you must replace the MCM

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
