Hotpoint WMA35 - Noisy on spinning

This could be the bearings.

If it is you have two options:
1 - Buy another washing machine
2 - DIY possible for about £30 with all the RIGHT TOOLS, £100 if doing it properly. And even with the right tools this will take you about 3 hours, probably more.

To replace the bearings you NEED to have:
1) The parts - The replacement bearing kit (£30) and hotpoint recommend a new spider (£65) as well.
2) A tool to push the drum shaft from the casing.
3) A tool to remove the beaings. It is possible to buy a new rear casing with the bearings already fitted for about £70.
4) Patience and a supply of tea!

Method
1 - disconnect everything and I mean everything see number 2.
2 - remove the drum casing from the chasis
3 - take off the pulley wheel
4 - open the casing
5 - remove the drum from the casing. DO NOT USE A HAMMER as the shaft deforms very easily (good job I've a new "spider"!)
6 - fit new "spider" if using. Here is where you find the bolts are rusted completely solid from spider to drum and require drilling out.
7 - remove bearings from casing (hence the need for the bearing removal tool)
8 - fit new bearings and rebuild machine (hence the need for the bearing fitting tool)

However I stopped at number 7 due to not having the right tools and I have no idea how much the right tools cost.

Trust me, take option one! £100 is a third of a new machine!

Refit belt

There is provision made for tensioning the belt.
It is self tensioning.
Remove top cover and rear panel.
With the washer tilted away from you,(get someone to hold it for you)Fit the belt round the motor pulley first, then slowly feed it round the drum pulley, turning the pulley at the same time, watch your fingers as it will be very tight, and just keep going until the belt is on, if it slides off, just start again.
Good luck.

I have the hotpoint wt741 and is currently saying test

The error code f10 is indicating a problem with the pressure switch or water level switch as it is sometimes called,
There a few things to check.
First, remove lower rear cover of washer, locate and remove the large black hose that goes onto the tub, remove and clean filter in there,
detach plastic pressure chamber attacthed to hose, and clean if req'd, remove small plastic hose and blow down it, you should hear a click if you listen carefully, this is the pressure switch operating, if you hear no click, then make sure the hose is not blocked, if clear, and you hear no click, then you probably have faulty switch.
If all these points are o/k. then the problem should be solved.
PLease leave a fixya rating if you consider my solution appropiate to your problem.
Thanks.

Hotpoint WMA35

Remove lower rear cover of washer, remove belt, undo 2 screws securing motor, remove motor wiring plug,, lever back motor and remove motor.

Remove carbon brushes at end of motor, and check for wear, if less than 8-10mm long, then replace them.
Clean armature with emery cloth or sandpaper before fitting new brushes, if it still does not work then the motor is probably faulty.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

I have only bcold water feed but washer has hot/cold do i need 2

If it is a hot and cold fill m/c, what you need is a fitting that is referred to as a" Y" piece..To fit it, connect the straight leg of the "Y" piece to the cold supply tap, and then fit a hose to each of the two outlets, connecting each of these to the 2 inlets on the valve to the washer..
It will then fill with water, regardless of the programme you select.
You can purchase the "Y" piece connector from most hardware shops, or B&Q, and the like.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

My hotpoint washer drier power on/off button has broken.pls help

Smithbrother is on to it I think. Those push on push off buttons fail after awhile. You can get a replacement, put it on, or have it replaced. The appliance covers must be removed to detach wires, remove button, put new one in, and reattach wires to the replacement.

Drum wont empty...have checked pump,

It obviously is related to the pump and outlet hoses.
If it is a tap in waste then check for obstruction there,
Remove drain hose completely and run water though it to make sure it is fully clear.
Check inside the pump itself for any obstruction , if you are satisfied that every thing is o/k, then as a last resort, fit new pump.
Plz leave feedback for this solution.
Thanks.

Niose on spin cycle

The heating element is coming on when it shouldn't.its likely that the pressure pot that is Level sensor sender unit is being blocked with sludge. You'll find this under the machine, either screwed to the RH side of the tub, near to the front of the machine secured by three screws, or attached to the side of the big hose that goes from the tub to the pump, secured by a Jubilee clip, under the machine.disconnect the power and remove the pressure pot, in both cases it's a long rigid white plastic tube, from one end of which comes a narrow flexible plastic hose which goes up to the top of the cabinet and is attached to the pressure switch itself. This tube is likely to have a load of muck in it, as its bottom end. Clean this out, and if your element didn't burn out, then everything should now be fine. hope this helps

Hotpointfront loader

It is very likely that the bearings have failed. I have had a hotpoint wma33 fail at 23 months and had hotpoint fix it...

This is not an easy task to undertake on your own I spent a while looking into this.

If you have warranty (machine is less than 1 year old) or paid for extended cover then call hotpoint to replace... (They will do the whole drum its quicker). This should be free.

If you don't have warranty (your machine is older than 1 year) then still call Hotpoint - you will be charged £90 callout but parts are free for machines less than 5 years old. This is what I recommend.

or - do it yourself ( NOT RECOMMENDED)

I know two people who have purchased the bearings and spider kits - and wasted about 3 days because these things are really awkward to remove and refit. They both swear that £90 is a bargin after buying the spider and bearing see:
http://www.4hotpoint.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=954798&brand=&model=wma33&part=spider
This spider costs 61.25 + delivery - ouch.

As hotpoint will fit half a drum or full drum (Depending on what is on the van for £90) the actual cost of a half drum is 75.99 + delivery see: http://www.4hotpoint.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=639770&brand=&model=wma33&part=drum

and a full drum costs 176.96 + delivery
see: http://www.4hotpoint.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=639763&brand=&model=wma33&part=drum

They take away all the rubbish at the end also!

I hope this helps

Please dont forget to rate me as a fixya.

Door Lock light Flashing

IF this is the A WMA model then im affraid to say that you have blown your program board.. This depending on the extent on the damage can be repaired but 7 times out of 10 it usually is not...

if you was to remove the front pannel by unscrewing the screws around the soap draw section... and remove the panel.... then detach the board from panel you will c where the largest plug is connected to the board that its is blown.....

P..S Removing the top cover makes removing the front panel a lot easier... The screws are near the front on the sides....behind the little clips

Hotpoint WMA35 - water will not empty and will not spin

Hi Debbie

Yes your machine will not spin if the water cannot drain... I do not have the machine in front of me but I would presume to think that you have a blockage in the water pump (or drain pump)

There is a normally a small pvc or plastic filter just before the pump and this would stop most big things entering the pump.. if not there could be a coin or button stuck in your pumps impeller.

Unfortunately if you are not technically inclined you will find it hard to access and open the pump otherwise just open the back plate on the machine (after removing the power socket from the wall) the pump is located at the bottom left and fairly easy to remove and open the plastic casing.

If this does not solve your problem please give more info........
