My hotpoint wma31 won't start,
It's a good machine. Well done for keeping it that long. It sounds like maybe it thinks the door is still open. (What happens if you intentionally try to start the program with the door open - It the result exactly the same? If it is, then it's probably the door interlock sensor.
If this is the case then you may find that a couple of good slams of the door will free off anything taht is sticking. Otherwise, you may have to check to see if there is a wire off the sensor (They do fall off sometimes) or.. after 13 years, it may need a new door sensor
Can the drum bearing
Hello, W/D here.
Of course it can! If someone can put it together, you can get it apart.
Here's a link to another site where this problem has already been tackled.
http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=22035One thing I liked about this site is that there was an ad for bearings on the page, and might help you also. Bearings are also available at a source called Motion Industries and WW Grangier. Hotpoint vendors may have a supply on hand as well. All you'll need is the number stamped onto the bearing race to get a suitable replacement. Sales shops that also provide service may tell you that the bearings and tub assemblies have to be sold as a unit, as the bearings may be rubber coated, but this isn't true. You can purchase any bearing required from the sources listed, or by performing a google search with the bearing number and selecting a source near you. A word to the wise; replace both bearings!
Best regards, --W/D--
Sparking motor
if the motor is sparking ( !!!!! ) -- unplug the unit and call a appliance repair man to repair the washer. or if it is new and under warranty, contact the seller for service. ( DO NOT use until it is fixed -- this is a very serious fire hazard !!! ).

Machine filled with water itself and does not empty.
Power off the mains. The
filter is located behind the silver plate at the back of the machine at
the
bottom. Four screws hold it on. Drain
out all the water. The filter is inside
the big black rubber hose attached between the pump and the main drum.
Remove
the plastic clip holding it to the pump unit and then the metal cir clip
holding it to the main drum. Inside is a white molded cone and a big
white ball
which floats. You will find a lot of junk here, clean out thoroughly. To
refit
put white cone back inside just as you found it, at the bottom, fit ball
back
into the cone. Attach to the bottom to the drum and re-fasten the cir
clip.
Finally reconnect the gator to the pump unit and tighten the plastic
clip. Check out the pump too before reconnecting.
And rate me nice pl for the
free help!
