I have hotpoint wd 72

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Just to make sure that it is not the drain motor giving the burning smell here are my general guidance notes for checking the drain filter and the motor's operation which I would highly recommend you carry out. It needs to be done on a regular basis anyway ;-0)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Hi I have a hotpoint

First check the screens in the end of the hose and inside the water inlet valve. If clear you need to remove the top and check to see if you have power to the water inlet valve, there will be a solenoid for hot and one for cold. Check for power on the cold solenoid when washer is put into a fill cycle. If you have power replace the water inlet valve. The whole valve must be replaced. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/washerwaterinlet.html

Hotpoint Ultima WT721 shows error codes F8 after

f8 is shown when the heater circuit is on with no water in.. it doesnt do it when you unplug the pressure switch because your disabling the heat protect circuit

THE BOARD IS PROBABLY FAULTY

F08 indicates pressure switch stuck on full.

Unplug the appliance from the wall socket.

Take the top off the machine.

Locate the pressure switch, you can identify it by the thin tube attached to it.

Take the tube off, blow down this tube as hard as you can to shift any blockage or restriction in the pressure chamber. Give the pressure switch a couple of good taps with the screwdriver handle.

Refit the tube and try the machine again.

If still doing it, unplug again and follow the tube down.

This end will be attached to the pressure chamber.

Take this chamber off and thoroughly clean it out, clean out the port into the tub too.

Reassemble and try again.

If after this it's still faulty you'll need to start replacing parts.

I'd suggest trying a new pressure switch first.

Failing this, if all of the above fails to resolve the problem you're possibly looking at a faulty main control board.

What does f-01 mean on the hotpoinr washer

Hi,

"Error F01" is indicating that the motor triac has short circuited on main PCB, this is part of the electronic speed control for the motor. You can do simple checks like motor connections/brushes etc.If the connections are seems to be perfect check the wiring whether it has continuity from motor to PCB. If there is no continuity then the PCB is faulty.
Hotpoint's advice is to call an engineer, it is not really a DIY repair, unless you have a good knowledge of electronics.

Thank you !!

Recently some of my daughters jersey type clothers

There are 2 band type rings that hold the seal on. It sounds like one of these has slipped off. The seal needs to be completely on the lip all the way around. Not just on the front where it is visible but behind the front where it attaches to the outer tub. This link should give you a good reference for reseating the seal. http://appliancehelponline.com/washerdoorseal.html

My machine flicks the mains switch as soon as i

Hiya,
there is a few things that will do this to your electics 1st & formost if your trip switch is tripping off remember this is a safty device to prevent fire so ignoring the problem & switching the power back on to try again could run the risk of fire!!

This sounds like a heater issue since it's tripping the power on both the wash & dryer, in events of overheating the machine will trip your power for safty & to prevent the risk of fire however since you mention that it trips the power as soon as you switch it on you could have a blocked pump or burnt out motor too if your finding that the machine is tripping the power earlyer & earlyer each time you retry i would focas on the motor or the pump 1st

on rare ocasions you can spring a leak & if water gets on the electrics this will also trip the power but this is 1 of the least likely posabilatys..
remember always get a qualified electrician to work on your electrics to ensure the job is carried out correctly

Hope this helps

Check water supply

Make sure the inlet hose/s are not kinked or restricted in any way.
Make sure valve/s are fully turned on, make sure water supply is a good pressure.
Check the filter/s in the inlet valves, remove hose/s to do this.

My hotpoint wd71 infobubble wont

Hi,

As you have already Unplugged the Unit for Few Minutes, say 30 minutes and still did not Solve the Problem. This is More often due to Faulty Control Board / Display Board. I am sorry, this is an expensive Repair. Everything on the LCD's are controlled by Control Board. The Principle here is same as applied on other electrical Appliances like Refrigerator.

This needs an engineer to visit the site and Fix this. The other Option could be You could Pull out the Control Board, Clean the Ribbon and Connectors and then see, if that could Fix the problem.

One of the Top Experts Mention one advise - Unplug washer and remove lid from there you will see the pressure switch. remove the thin hose and blow down it . check it for any holes. blow up pressure switch to see if it clicks.

If it does not Click, change Pressure Switch and more often it would solve the problem. Unless the same as i described above.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
