The Motorola V330 was released by T-Mobile in the USA. And, as such it is a GSM phone. The only way to determine if it is unlocked is to 'borrow' an activated and working AT&T (Cingular) SIM Card from someone and install it in your phone. If, at the top of the screen on the phone it reads: AT&T (with bars) and it will make and receive calls - then it is unlocked.

When I had those problems it was usually because I was not on my carriers' network that I had the service with.

Most websites will charge you to unlock your phone, but you can actually do it for free on one of these 3 websites:

Have your IMEI code ready by typing *#06# on your phone, the IMEI code will show up on screen.

Remember, by unlocking some phones you may be in breach of a contract between you and your service provider.

Hi!  I currently have a similar problem with my V330.  In the past, all I had to do was download Mobile Phone Tools (you can Google it), purchase a USB cable for the V330 from eBay, and connect to the phone through the computer.  I don't know what the exact issue is, but sometimes I was successful in downloading/uploading pictures, while other times I was not.  In any case, it's worth a shot!  You may have to select the V300 in the program, which should still work.

try a factory reset. it should be under settings or you could have it flashed witht eh new firmware.

PUK means "personal unlocking key" .

The PUK code is asked if you enter a wrong pin 3 times.

You need to call your phone service company, they can retrieve the puk code from a database
for free.

In your case you need to contact your SIM card phone provider technical support to unlock the SIM.

Yes there is a software you need to download to unlock it which I am looking for on the internet

You can call T-mobile Customer Service to ask them to unlock your phone.

i) send out to a cell phone repair and they will print out contacts., will cost u $25-$50.

ii) hook up bluetooth to your pc (check your manual or one online) and download the numbers. this is pretty tough without see stuff on the screen, imho.

iii) check manual (online or yours) to save all contacts, at least as many as possible onto your sim card.

this actually just happened to me a week ago, but i have a backup prepaid v300, so i can put my sim in there for contacts. good luck!

you need "motorola phone tools" software installed on your puter and a usb cable or bluetooth capable puter to connect the phone and pc.

Dont try to do anything fancy as you might lock it permanently. Just take your bill as a proof and go to motorola showroom where you bought the phone and ask them to unlock it. They will unlock the phone for you. Also if you did not lock the phone yourself the phone manual will contain the default unlock code.

Who is your carrier? Is this a new phone? You may want to call the carrier to verify the activation if so. There are also times when the phone is faulty and needs replacing. It seems like a carrier issue mostly, though. Call them and ask if they can verify the numbers in your phone. Sometimes duplicate Sim cards cause a fraud alert that will make your phone inoperative without a new one (if sim card is applicable)
