HP PAVILLION F1703 GOES A SLEEP AND CANT TURN ON WITH OUT RESTART
July 2010
I have 3x F1703 screens, which Ive had in store, due to the problems of
powering up the panels. Basically as descibed here, panels would go out.
After reading this posting, I decided to strip the 3x Panels down, as I
was going to dump them anyway, in the past fear of attempting to open
the cases and breaking meant I never got around to attempting to fix.
The front face comes off with a bit of difficulty, via prizing open
using a kitchen knife,,, with 3 panels I had practise, so do take car.
Work from the bottom edge of your panel.
On opening, you have a secure backplate you have to remove by unscrewing
12 screws, this then allows you to flip over the panel and to get to
the control boards.
My first screen was damaged, but this had a later Processor board but an
earlier power amp board...I salvaged the amp board with torodial coils.
then used this on the 2nd panel - this now works fine!
The 3rd Panel, is also a early 2003 model, but again has a slighly
different amp board, Im going to have to canablise the boards from 2
panels to make one good one.
The POWER fault was FOUND TO BE none other than a loose soldering on the
power connector to the amp board, the solder was cracked and only needs
to be soldered!
thats todays job, re-solder the amp board power socket and hopefull 2 out of 3 panels will be working once more
Hope this has helped
Thanks for the article as its enabled me to fix 2 panels, with thanks to you all
