Check rec! tab how do i do that anyways?
Mini DV tapes have a little switch thing on them that write protects the tape if it is set in one position, or allows the tape to be written to if set in the other position.

Get "DEW DETECTED" warning on screen, powers off.
Also try this, take the bottom cabinet off, with the lcd panel facing you and the camera turned upside down and the cassette housing pointing away from you you will see 2 wide gold cables plugged into the right side of the board, realitively the same size, the gold cable that is between the main pcb and the mechanism assy is the control cable pull it our of the connector and clean it with alcohol, you can even take it one step further and evenly trim just a hair of the cable off all the way across just so that it has a new place to set. This has worked for me over 100 times in the past years. Seasoned camcorder technician 13 years experience.

Panasonic PV-DV103D
This is actually a problem with the ribbon cable. When the tape is put in and the tape door is pushed shut it jars the internal ribbon cable. Years ago I found this tip online & it fixed it!

"Ok, here goes, I had the exact same problem on my pos Panasonic
pv-dv203d. After many times of taking it apart and many frustrating
calls to Panasonic, I've finally figured it out, I hope
it helps on your cameras.
Remove the bottom plate from the Camera (four screws, plus one near the LCD screen).
Pop off the bottom plate of the camera
Look at the ribbon cables carefully, and make sure they are all
snug in the plugs. The tape transport mechanism may move them out of
place."
Every now and then our will start to act up & hubby unscrews the bottom of the camcorder (Panasonic PV-DV203D), gently maks sure the ribbon cables are in place, replaces the bottom plate & it's worked for us every time. i hope this helps!

PV-DV103 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Tape Door Out.
100 % Cure - Change the internal battery, you can find that below AV out jack, pull it out and replace it with a new one. I have seen this happening twice to my camcorder. It seems you, just like me seldom use it.
