Panasonic NV GS 15 deck jammed

Yes i had the same problem ...
1.Put the cassette as far as it allows... and move the cassette left and right slightly twisting , and you will activate the mechanism
2.SOON the mechanism gets fully out immediately!!!! remove the battery
3.CLEAN contacts (I'm looking right now on the internet to find where the hell sensors-contacts are)
4.PREY that it works :-)

My nv gs 15 screen

if the LCD is damaged there is no other option but to replace the screen. So in the first place please calll up to find out the cost of a new screen and if this involves the replacement charges since it is bought from the dealership. If so it is better that the LCD be replaced by them at no extra cost.
Unless you are familiar to replace and the cost factor is a big gap with the open market price you must decide after taking all options.

Resetting Problem

We have owned this camera since November of 2004. We had the same issue that you are having. We finally realized that the "press the reset switch" beep was more frequent when the battery was getting low, regardless of what we were doing with the camera. We usually got "the beep" when we would press record, but it would happen anytime, really. Eventually, we had the problem all the time. A quick trip to the camera shop solved the problem..we needed to buy a new battery.

Since we bought the new battery several months ago, we haven't had the problem since. The new battery was (I think) about $40. Don't buy one from the panasonic website...I couldn't believe what they wanted for the same battery...can anyone say rip off??

I'm not sure if my solution will help you, but that is how we solved our reset switch problem. Good luck to you!

Help me my panasonic nv-gs 15 keeps saying press

This seems to be an obscure problem on these types (Mini-DV). I use several different kinds, including 2 of the NV-GS15 model, and the constant RESET request is the camcorders basic attempt at sorting itself out. It rarely works though. The idea of the reset is that it gets the cam to start its internal checking & sensor settings as if just switched on from new. It can sometimes get past the tape being caught in the mechanism - which requires the cogs inside to reverse and kick the tape free (that's how it appears from what i've seen). The cam keeps a careful check on what's happening inside the tape area - but it can be a bit over fussy in that. Any tiny variation in temperature, humidity etc., can cause it to shut down (and require resetting).
I have one here that I use as my main one. It sometimes starts requesting the reset for a while. I find just taking the tape in & out a few times, or running a head cleaner in it a few times, gets past it on mine. Why? Well it's been doing that for over 12 months, so the problem it thinks it's got is all in it's mind lol Seriously, nudges to the tape mechanism seem to have also cured it for weeks/months at a time.
My advice would be, try taking the tape in & out a few times, run a head cleaner thru it if possible (i used one from a $1 store - it works fine for me), and you can try blowing air into the actual tape area (available in compressed air cans) to clear out any dust particles that are affecting the sensors inside. After air going thru the mechanism, it may warn about DEW when turned on, this may last for about an hour, then it should stop that warning.
I hope that helps in some way, sorry I can't give a 100% solution.

Firewire pins are bent or damaged. Can they be

Bent firewire pins are common and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I’m semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

If this response has been of any help to you, please be sure and give a positive vote for me on FixYa.com .

Hey! I think you need a DV to DVD burning tool to help you burn dvd from your pvgs2 DV. I recommend you use this DV to DVD Burning software which I had a good luck with.

You can have a try of it. Hope that helps.

Push the reset button

My camera has been doing this too, searched this site not through product but problem and found this solution posted by "margarita" for another camera. Said to try removing/replacing the tape. When I pushed the eject button the tape did not come up, removed the battery for a minute and tried again. This time the tape came up so I removed it and put it back in, it seems to have worked. The reset button is not flashing and it did record and playback when I tried them.

My Cassette Tape Deck is Jammed Open - Help!

Glad to hear that you got the unit working. One thing you might want to do now that you resolved the jammed problem, to avoid future problems, is with the cassette deck open, look in to the opening and check all the metal parts for any signs of being bent or twisted, even slightly. There is a reason that the door has a spot marked "push door shut here". Pushing it anywhere else will usually bend something. It may be working now but who knows. Usually when you force the cassette mechanisms on the little camcorders you bend something and sooner or later it will come back to haunt you. Now you can open and close it so it would be an easier fix. If you find anything bent you will need to carefully straighten it. Believe me, a little time spent now will save alot of grief later. Perhaps your father-in-law would have the skills to check it and straighten any bent parts. Even if you don't find any problems you will at least have peace of mind knowing that everything is OK. Good luck.

No playback

Even though my husband cleaned the head with a q-tip and alcohol, I decided to purchase a cleaning tape. I popped it in and it worked in less than 15 seconds! It was expensive, $18, but not nearly expensive as a new camera!

Try to playback the tape and the screen is all blue

your heads motor ( drum ) cable may have have come loose or is dirty - since the cleaning tape made some difference the heads were dirty or almost worn out ( cleaner tape is abrasive ) so now there isn ' t enough signal ; if your date and time display worked only in play ? ( still works for camera record video ) your guides were out of alignment - and the cleaning tape took your guides even further out of alignment ( alignment here starts at $ 50 + shipping )

Tape wont eject

put the camera to your ear , power it up and listen ! if it sounds . . . jerky ? your tape is stuck to the heads ( not easy to get out , cassette may be toast and - time is money ) ; if you hear whirring sounds ? before shuts down your cassette housing may be bent ( will need disassembly etc . but not usually expensive ) because - if it is a loading problem , it will usually eject ;

Can not playback past end of first file on my Panasonic PV-GS2

I'm not sure if this will work for you but, sometimes I try to play back some of my tapes and a blue or grey screen comes up instead, although this sounds odd, if I record something(for even one second) it will let me see my film. I know this can cause problems because you may end up taping over film but if it's the only way to see your film it's worth a try!
